June 21, 1978 Mrs. Carl Mathias, Jr., and her son, Carl IIL Carl Mathias wins $400 scholarship Carl III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mathias, Jr., of 1020 Central Ave., Columbia, has been a- warded a $400 scholarship under the 1978 Warner Communications Inc. Col- lege Scholarship Program. ‘Carl is a graduate of Columbia High School and attends Stevens Trade School. He earned the award for excellence in scholastic achievement. The scholarship award is presented annually to the son or daughter of Warner Cable employees. Carl’s mother is Mary Jane Mathias, office manager for Warner Cable. Carl is one of 27 students selected from among Warner Cable em- ployee families throughout the United States. The Warner Scholarship Program was established in 1971. Pastor Zuch honored Pastor Robert Zuch, a native of Marietta, and currently Pastor of Faith United Lutheran Church, Altoona, Pa., was honored recently at a 25th anniver- sary dinner and service of Ordination. The Reverend Robert Thompson Zuch was or- dained into the Christian Ministry on May 28, 1953 in Holy Communion Luth- eran Church, Philadelphia, Pa., by the Lutheran Ministry of Pennsylvania and Adjacent States, the parent synod of American Lutheranism. Pastor Zuch is a gradu- ate of Franklin and Marshall College, Lancast- er, the Lutheran Theolo- gical Seminary, Philadel- phia and Lehigh University, Bethlehem, where he re- ceived a Master of Arts Degree in History. Following his ordination, Pastor Zuch served as a missionary to Japan for three years. He then became the pastor of the Hamilton Lutheran Parish in Monroe County. the Northkill Lutheran Parish in Berks County and Arndt’s Lutheran Church, Easton. On June 15, 1977 Pastor Zuch began serving as the pastor of Faith United Lutheran Church, and was formally installed on July 24. Speaker for the 25th aniversary of the Ordina- tion dinner was the Reverend Dennis K. Koch, pastor of Mount Lebanon Lutheran Church, Pitts- burg, and the minister who greeted Pastor Zuch and his wife Muriel, when they landed in Japan as mis- sionaries. Bob and Muriel are the parents of five children and Pastor Zuch is the son of Lucy and the late Harry Zuch, 200 E. Market St., Marietta.
