Page 2 — SUSQUEHANNA TIMES All 4 vote against property tax A grand total of four people voted in last week's Susquehanna Poll on the question: Do you think property taxes should be reduced or eliminated?” All four voted ‘‘yes,’”’ one person specifying that he or she wanted property taxes ‘‘reduced.’’ Comments were: ‘““Learn to keep house. Quit spending unnecess- arily;”’ ‘““Taxes of salaries ap- pear much fairer—taxes on property can really hit the pocketbook of the young and elderly;”’ ‘Stop a lot of this waste at these schools, and there is plenty of it. Taxes are too high.”’ Doc Landis to head alumni association Dr. William B. Landis has been elected president of the alumni association at Hahnemann Medical Col- lege and Hospital. Those members attend- ing from out-of-state were: Thelma Zink Hatcher, MidWest City, Oklahoma; Barbara Fellenbaum Jen- nings, Valparaiso, Indiana; Martha Snyder Fetzko, Bridgewater, New Jersey; Catherine Breneman Dif- fenderfer, Moraga, Cali- fornia and William F. Broske, Myrtle Beach, Hess, Winnie Latchford South Carolina. One former teacher, Mr. W.G. Diffenderfer of Mor- aga, California was also present. Following a social hour and dinner the members and guests enjoyed an evening of fellowship and reminiscing about those days back when. Home- town movies taken during 1935S, 1936 & 1937 were shown to the group through the courtesy of Joseph Schaeffer and banjo select- ions were played by class member Jay Snyder. The members decided to hold their next reunion in § years. : Marietta auxillary gives $900 to hospital Members of the Marietta Auxiliary to the Columbia Hospital presented a $900 check to John Metzler, Columbia Hospital adminis- trator, at the end of Monday’s meeting at the hospital. This check leaves only another $1000 left in the Auxiliary’s pledge to the building fund. The money came from public card parties, white elephant sales, food tasting events, and individual projects of the members. Auxiliary members had a luncheon meeting at the hospital for the June session. President Mrs. Joe Gilmartin conducted the meeting and appointed a nominating committee of Mrs. Robert Henry, Miss Ruth Wisman, and Mrs. Thomas Moran. The meeting was opened by the chaplain, Mrs. William Heisey, who read addages. The next meeting will be in September. Mount Joy planners’ agenda The proposed agenda for the Mount Joy Borough Planning Commission meeting to be held on Thursday, June 22nd, at 7:30 in the borough offices is as follows; Discuss and consider the final subdivision plan of Amos Nolt for a two-lot subdivision located along the south side of New Street.
