Wizard of Donegal
The answers to the
Wizard of Donegal puzzles
of several weeks ago are...
What word is always
pronounced wrong by Har-
vard professors? ‘‘Wrong,”
of course.
Rearrange the letters of
NEW DOOR to make one
word? Easy—ONE WORD.
The Wizard will now
pose some new riddles.
Here’s one:
A Pennylvania Dutch
terrorist wants to ship
AK-47 machine guns from
Bird-In-Hand to Paradise.
Each rifle is 1% yards
long. However, the postal
clerk tells the terrorist that
he can’t ship any package
that is more than 1.3 yards
in any one dimension. Can
the terrorist ship the rifles?
As it turned out, the
terrorist was caught and
convicted, and brought
before a judge who dabbled
in logic. The judge told him
that he could make a
presentence statement, but
that if he lied, he would be
sentenced to be shot. On
the other hand, the judge .
went on, the man would
not be shot if he told only
the truth—he would be
hanged instead.
If you were the terrorist,
what would you tell the
judge, knowing that this
judge always kept his
word?
