He started his banking career in 1927 as a teller at the Maytown National ‘Bank. In 1950 he was named a Director of the Board; five years later the bank merged with Farmers First, Lititz, and he was named Vice-president and Manager of the Marietta Office and a member of the Regional Board of Direct- ors. He was named chairman of the Regional Board last year. Mr. Hiestand is a past President of the Lancaster County Bankers Associa- tion, Pastor Emeritus of the Congregational Bible Church, and is chairman of ESTHER U. HORN Mrs. Esther U. Horn, 77, of Dunns Eddy Rd., RDI1 Youngsville, PA, and for- merly of Marietta, died at Warren General Hospital at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 27th. She was born on Septem- ber 12th, 1900, in Annville, a daughter of the late William L. and Ellen Wilhelm Ulrich. She grad- uated from Annville High School in 1919, and from Millersville State College in 1921. She was married to Harvey U.E. Horn at Annville on January 23, 1926. They lived in Marietta before moving to Youngsville in 1944, when Mr. Horn accepted a position as music instructor with the Youngsville schools. Mrs. Horn taught Eng- lish at Youngsville High School and was a librarian for three years. She was also a substitute teacher. She was a member of the Saron Lutheran Church, Youngsville, and the Bro- kenstraw Garden Club and Grange, and the Pittsfield Home Extension. Surviving are: her hus- band Harvey; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald Wood of Frederica, Del.; a son, William Horn, Conestoga; five great-grandchildren; a brother, W. Luther Ulrich, RD1 Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Sprecher, Cleona; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Kreider and Mrs. Violet Berger. A funeral service was held May 30th in Youngs- ville. She was buried in Wednesday morning at his tery, Annville, on May 31st. Friends wishing to place memorials may do so through the Warren County Heart Fund. Mr. and Mrs. Hiestand the East Donegal Township Municipal Water Authority and a part time salesman for Hiestand Memorials Inc., Marietta. Obituaries MICHAEL B. RIEHL ‘Michael B. Riehl, 21 -month-old son of Audrey Witman Riehl, East Peters- burg, and Dennis E. Riehl, Mount Joy, died unexpect- edly on Wednesday at 11:35 AM at St. Joseph Hospital. An autopsy was ordered by the office of the Lancaster County coroner. The boy lived with his mother at 5432 Main St. in East Petersburg. Surviving, besides his parents, are maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn H. Witman, Manheim RD6, and patern- al grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin V. Riehl, also Manheim RD6. BENJAMIN MYERS ~ Benjamin F. Myers, Jr., 68, of Bainbridge died Wednesday morning at his home. He was the husband of Laura M. Myers. Myers was born in Conoy Town- ship and was the son of the late Martha Smith and Benjamin F. Myers Sr. He had lived in Bain- bridge all of his life. He was an inspector at Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown for 22 years before retiring. Myers was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical’ Lutheran Church in Bain- bridge, Odd Fellows Triune Lodge of Middletown, Bainbridge Fire Co., a former member and tounder of Bainbridge Water Authority, a social member of Libhart-Dyer Post 197 of the American Legion and a former member of Bainbridge- Maytown Rotary Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are: two daugh- ters; Lucille, wife of Leslie Dorenus, Pennsylvania Furnace, and Susan M. Myers, Mount Joy; a son, Alfred K. Myers, at home; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Hiestand accomp- anied her husband to the convention as did Mr. and Mrs. John E. Hiestand, Maytown. RAYMOND S. RUBY Raymond S. ‘‘Dice”’ Ruby, Jr., 60, died Friday at his home at 19 S. Vine St., Marietta. He was the husband of Phyllis J. Barshinger Ruby and the son of Raymond S. and Laura May Haines Ruby Sr. of Marietta. Born in and a lifetime resident of Marietta, he was a member of the United Methodist Church of Marietta and a member of Mount Joy American Legion Post 18S. A veteran of World War II, he retired in May from the New Cumberland Army Depot where he was a wharehouseman. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one daughter, Joyce H. Ruby of Manheim, three brothers; John F., Harold T., and Vincent Ruby, all of Marietta R.D.1. MRS.C.S. GREIDER Viola L. Greider, 75, of Mount Joy R.D.1, died at St. Joseph Hospital at 9:00 PM Saturday evening. A resident of the Mount Joy area for the past S0 years, she was a member of the Mount Joy Men- nonite Church, and active as a GOCrey Lady at St.Joseph Hospital for over 2S years. She was a member of the Lancaster County Farm Women Society Number 8. She was the widow of Clarence Greider, who died in 1974. She was born in East Lampeter Township, a daughter of the late John B. and Ada Leaman Kreider. She is survived by a son, Jay Clarence Greider, with whom she resided; three grandclildren; two brothers Walter Kreider, Ronks, and Daniel Kreider, Lancaster; and a sister, Miriam, wife of Frank Steller, Leola.
