Page 10—Susquehanna Times IF YOU MUST BUY AN AIR CONDITIONER Get the facts! Fact: Some air conditioners use more electricity than others to do the same cooling job Fact: With electricity rates on the rise, electric operating costs are as important as purchase price Fact: EER stands for Energy Efficiency Ratio and is a method of com- paring electric operating costs of one air conditioner with another Fact: The higher the EER number, the less electricity the unit will use. Look for an EER of 7.5 or better... 9 to 10 is considered very good. Fact: Manufacturers are now required to display EER labels Fact: An air conditioner that's too large in capacity can be as in- efficient as one that's too small. Select the right size for your cooling needs Just as economy-minded car buyers consider gasoline mile- age, it makes sense for appliance buyers to consider “electricity mileage” before buying. Remember, the higher the EER number, the more energy efficient your air conditioner will be. But, consider this also . . . any place you can use a fan in place of an air conditioner, better yet. A fan operates on about 90%, less electricity and also costs much less to buy. © Pa a “Saving energy . . . saves for all of us" bat tot bk lip BD HEC Per pp bee ders eae bb bib bbe ddsirie pioieierzer hh bh bb bb 3 $1.53 A . v.99.
