A trip to the Last Sunday the congregation of Zion United Church of Christ in Marietta gave their pastor a gift: A trip for two to the Holy Land, all expenses paid. They are: Linda Hiltz, president; Marietta Bailey, vice-presi- dent; Dottie Farhinger, secretary; and Lieda Appley, treasurer. The Auxilliary voted for a change in the meeting night, from 1st Monday night to 1st Tuesday night, bi-monthly. The néw sched- ule will take effect starting on Monday, February 6th, Free A free CPR course is being offered to East Don- egal residents in Maytown next week. If you've been putting off learning this valuable life-saving tech- nique, now’s the time to make good that new year resolution. The course runs four consecutive nights, from the 16th through the 19th. Hours are 7 to 10 PM each night. Remember, its free . (although you may donate if you wish to. The courses do cost money.). The course is offered by January 11, 1978 Marietta Fire Co. Auxilliary elects officers at the Fire Hall at 7:30 PM. Dues for 1978 should be paid now. The Auxilliary would like to thank the public for its support during the past year with trips and pretzel sales. Pretzels will be avail- able all year (call 426-1622). The trip to Williamsburg, VA will be on May 5th through May 7th. If you are interested, call 426-3644. the East Donegal Jaycees. Call Bob Hoffines at 426-3871 right away if you want to take the course. The East Donegal Jay- cees are short of members at the moment, which gets in the way of doing worth- while projects for the community — such as this CPR course. So, if you want to do something for the community, join up! The next Jaycee meeting will be at 8:00 in the Maytown Legion building. By the way, that’s the same place the CPR course will be held. Prayer breakfast The annual prayer break- fast, sponsored by the Mount Joy Inter-Church Council and the Mount Joy Jaycees, will be held Saturday, January 21st, at 7:00AM at Hostetter’s. The program will feature the Caravan Players, plus a solo by Joi Shearer, Miss Mount Joy. : Thete will be a hearty breakfast and an hour of Christian fellowship. Tickets are available, for $1.50, from your church or Sloan’s Pharmacy. Memorial Day Parade preparations begin The Mount Joy Commun- ity Council has begun preparations for the Mem- orial Day Parade, to be held May 27th at 2:00 o’clock. Invitations have been sent to a large number of area bands. The Council urges all church and civic groups to enter floats in the parade. Monetary prizes will be awarded for floats. How- ever, the theme of the parade has not yet been decided. The council has been meeting monthly since Sep- tember, when the calendar of events in Borough Hall was put up. Civic and church groups are invited to paste up their own events on the calendar. A three month calendar of events will be seen in a local newspaper in the future. The Community Council is serving the community, and it urges all organiza- tions to participate and help make this project successful. DID YOU HEAR? Four members of the Maytown Sport Parachute Club celebrated the new year by jumping over the airport 15 seconds before midnight on December 31st. Spending several minutes in the air, all were in free fall during a “‘2 year’’ period. The four jumpers will get certificates from the nation- al parachute association for their jump.
