Farm Women meet Farm Women’s Society #8 met in the home of Mrs. Alice Myers, Mount Joy RD1, on November 19th at 2:00 PM. Kathryn Heisey, president of the Society, presided over the meeting. Ruth Musser led the group in singing Come Ye Thank- ful People Come, and Count Your Blessings. Mary Grace Martin accom- panied on the piano. Devotional time was led by Alice Myers, who read a poem entitled ‘‘Prayer at Summer's End,”’ and Pro- verbs chapter 3 vs. 5-10. Nineteen members and two guests were present. They answered roll call by naming a cherished item they have received through the years. The minutes were read by Secretary Mary Grace Martin. Trea- surer Elizabeth Shuman gave the Treasurer's report. Gladys Ney sent words of appreciation for the basket of fruit presented to her recently, by the Society. Individual notes of appreci- ation were sent from the Eby family for the Sun- shine Box given Anna Mae who is a shut-in. After the business ses- sion Viola Greider and Mary Grace Martin played a piano duet; Sonata #2 by Anton Diabelli. On sale will be hand made items like pressed flower note paper, dolls, afghans, and Benson fruit cakes. The lunch will include soup, hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, and home made pies and cakes. You can either eat there or take it out. Mrs. Helen Frye and Mrs. Kathryn Eshleman are in charge of food for the event. Co-chairwomen for the bazaar are Mrs. Robert Long and Mrs. Daniel Mackinson. The Guild Christmas Party is on December 9th. for auction by the mem- bers. Helen Wivell helped her for a few final sales. The Thanksgiving theme was followed by the hostesses who provided and served attractive and delicious refreshments. Alice Myers, Ruth Eby, Grace Bixler, Minnie Kulp, and JoAnn Myers were hostesses. The Christmas meeting will be held December 10 at 6:30 PM, at the home of Mrs. Vera Frey, Marietta RD1. Mem- bers are invited to bring their husband or a friend.
