Kurtz, who has guided the financial affairs of Elizabethtown College for 20 years, will retire as treasurer on June 1, 1978. Announcing the retire- ment, President Ebersole said Kurtz has given ‘‘long, loyal, faithful, ef- fective service’’ to the institution under four pre- sidents. Kurtz presided over the expansion of the campus from 60 acres to 110 and the construction of eight buildings, major additions to five others, and com- plete renovation of several more. The value of the College’s physical plant, for which he exercises major administrative re- sponsibility, now is worth 10 times what it was in 1957. He holds a B.S. degree from Elizabethtown Col- lege, Class of 1935, and a M.A. from New York University and completed further graduate work at the Wharton School of Business and at Temple University.
