October 26, 1977 Donegal School Board meets The Donegal School Board has officially entered the long-awaited state subsidy in its budget. The board hasn’t received the money yet, but they calculate that the amount should be $118,785. No one is really sure how much money the state will return, because the formu- lae used to compute the amount are very compli- cated. The money, when it arrives, will be used to repair the high school and junior high buildings. The board accepted the resignations of Phyllis and Mount Joy Historical Society Steve Leatherman as school district tax collectors for Mount Joy Boro. Ill-health was cited as the cause of the resignations. Residents have been paying their taxes at the school district office since Oct. 3, however, the board named Mrs. Peggy Nissley to. replace the two Leathermans temporarily. Arrangements have been made for taxes to be paid at 4 local banks starting July 1, 1978. The banks are: the Dauphin Deposit Trust Co., the National Central Bank of Mount Joy, the Maytown branch of the Union National Bank, the Mount Joy office of the Union National Bank, and the Farmers First Bank in Marietta. The board accepted an offer from Wissler Motors for a second driver educa- tion car. The Marietta Model Masters, a model airplane flying club, was granted exclusive rights to use the Riverview School property for model airplane flying. The club will carry $1 million in liability insur- ance. hears talk on Thomas Edison by leading expert Richard Guth of Harris- burg was the guest speaker at the October meeting of the Mount Joy Area His- torical Society.
