Farewell party for the Halls It was the wedding anniversary of Denny and Sandy Hall, but the fire- men didn’t know that until the reverend and his family arrived. I honestly believe that the people of East Donegal Township are lucky to have these men and women providing for their safety.” Letter: firemen need support Dear Editor: On Saturday, August 20 the Marietta Fire Co. held another unsuccessful carni- val due to the lack of participation from Marietta citizens. It has been said that there is nothing to do at the carnivals, but if the people of the community won’t help support them then the situation will always be the same. The fire company is sponsoring a flea market Saturday, August 27. Let’s all go out and give our support and help them make this a very successful flea market. Don. post still vacant According to Abram Groff, East Donegal Super- visor, no one has yet been appointed to the position of Supervisor to fill the place left by the death of Jim Johnstin. The remaining Supervisors (Mr. Groff and Mr. Fuhrman) have 90 days to appoint a new member of their board. Mr. Groff will not be running for re-election this fall, because he has moved his residence outside of the township boundaries. Alumni game August 24, 1977 Circus coming This is Go-Go. He has a nine-foot armspan and weighs S00 pounds. As one of the fewer than 2,000 giant red orangutans in existance, he travels in his own air-conditioned 40-foot cage with Hoxie’s Great American Circus, which is coming to our area soon. The circus will be at the Farm Diner near E-town on Thursday, Sept. 1st, and in Columbia at the Columbia Riding Club on Monday, Sept. Sth. Showtimes are 6 and 8:15 in E-town, and 2 and 6 in Columbia. Admission is 2 and 3 dollars. They're big, but are they fast? Find out Friday. Donegal High School Parents Football Booster Club will sponsor an Alum- ni Football Game on Fri- day, August 26, 1977 at 8:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $1.50 and .7S for students. The Rain Date is Saturday, August 27, 1977. Odd coach Rick Breault told the Times that there are 32 alumni on both teams, most of whom will play only offense or only defense. There are also 22 alumni cheerleaders. Last Monday the football alumni were at DHS practicing for the big game next Friday. Ex-football players who Most of the alumni are in their late twenties and early thirties. The youngest ones are last year’s grads, and the oldest is 38. One alumnus, John Steh- man, commutes to the DHS practices from Halifax in York County, about an hour and one-half’s drive away. ‘‘Stehman is a good guard,’ noted Breault. The other Odd team coach is Scott Madara. Walt Price and Kemp Zangari are the Even-year grads’ coaches. 3 graduated in even-numbered years will combat those who are odd grads.
