Page 12—SUSQUEHANNA "MES Awards at Mount Joy Vo-tech On Tuesday, March 15, 1977 the 26th Annual State Distributive Education Career Development Con- ference closed at the Host Farm Resort with Lancaster County’s Mount Joy Vo- Tech receiving 10 top awards and recognition. Over 1,400 Distributive Education students from more than 189 schools from across the state competed. PA has more than 6,000 Distributive Education stu- dents who compete on a local and district level before attending the State Conference. Distributive Education prepares students for more than seventy different jobs and careers related to mar- keting goods and services. The high school and voca- tional-technical school pro- grams offer classroom in- struction in subjects such as: Advertising; Visual Dis- play; Communications; Human Relations; Sales- manship; Merchandising; Management; Product and Service Knowledge; Mer- chandising Mathematics; and Small Business Opera- tions. Students display their expertise in subject areas by participat- ing in competition which is judged by business and marketing professionals. Dawn Motter, Penryn, was first place champion in the Food Industry Research category. She will now compete on the national level in May.
