Why
spend
summer
at Scout
camp?
by Gerald Alleman
After returning from a
week as a Provisional
Scoutmaster at our Coun-
cil's camp many of my
acquaintances would ques-

of your vacation at a Scout
Camp?’’ Anyone who has
had the opportunity to
share a week in the
out-of-doors with Scouts
could give many reasons
why. However, this year
I’m able to give a reason
which touched the hearts
of individuals.

we has 40 Scouts from
throughout our council.

been less normal mentally
than others and this 1
question, because some of
the so called ‘‘normal”’
boys didn’t seem to have
as any mental -capabili-
ties as this Handicapped
Scout.
This Scout who had
never earned a Merit
Badge made up his mind at
our pre-camp Troop Meet-
ing that he was going to
earn the swimming Merit
Badge. religiously each
morning he left the site
and went to the Swimming
Merit Badge instruction
