1976 — October 27, 1976 Maytown Civic Assoc to elect new officers Officers for 1977 will be elected by the Maytown Civic Association at their November 2 meeting. The nominating committee is headed by Rev. John 8S. Heistand. The meeting will be held in the Township Municipal Building and will begin promptly at 8 p.m. Maytown citizens are urged to attend the meet- ing and help develop an organization for community betterment. Everyone's ideas will be considered. Jacob Sherk is DHS Boy of the Month Jacob Sherk Jacob Sherk, son of Mr. & Mrs. Jocob G. Sherk 207 South Barbara Street Mount Joy, has been named Boy of the Month at Donegal High School. Jacob's high school activit- ies include: Soccer; Wrest- ling; Soccer Club; Varsity Club; Executive Commit- tee; Sr. Class Play; Nation- al Honour Society; Spanish Honour Society; and Rotary Leaders Camp. He has won the following awards: NEDT Certificate; American Chemical Society (First Place Award); Done- gal Science Fair (1st Place Chemistry); Picked Who's Who among American High School Students; Lan- caster County Science Fair- Reserve Champion; Atten- ded 27th International Sciece Gair in Denver, Col.; Rensselaer Polytech- nic Institute-Mathematics and Science Award 11. He ‘is a member of Chiques United Methodist Church, Mount Joy; Cap- tain and Coach of Chiques United Methodist Church Sotfball Team; and a mem- ber of Pastor-Parish Rela- tion committee. Jacob plans to major in either Chemistry or Pharmacy at college. Special celebration at St. Mark’s Methodist In recent years Reforma- tion Sunday has been reserved for the leadership and participation of the youth of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Mount Joy. Under the direction of the congregation's Assoc- iate, Miss Sharon Givler, a special celebration is plan- ned for Sunday, October 31, 1976, at 10:15 AM. Youth and post-highs will have charge of all the worship segments and will serve as greeters and ushers for the day. The pastor, W. Richard Kohler, will also receive new mem- bers into the fellowship during the hour. Weekly family night pro- grams are sponsored every Wednesday evening at St. Mark's from 7:00 to 8:30. There are classes and activities for all age groups. The invitation is open to anyone in the community to join in with this program. Buddy Rich coming to DHS October 29th Plans have been com- pleted for the ‘*Buddy Rich and his Killer Force” to appear at Donegal High School on Friday, October 29 at 8 p.m. Making his first appearance at Done- gal, the famous drummer and his musicians present a free swinging spirit in arrangements for all ages. Rich is the featured drummer, band leader, singer, and a dancer. Committees working on the project involve all personnel of the Donegal Band, Parents Club, Done- gal Marching Band, and many other persons.
