The Mount Joy Minit Mart and Frozen Food Lockers, Inc., located at Alley “A” and Manheim Street is requesting a side- yard variance in order to remodel the exterior of the existing building. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Buller, 203 Mount Joy Street, are requesting a sideyard variance in order to enlarge a single-family dwelling at the above loca- tion. 3. Mr. RoBert Kline, 567 North Angle Street, is appealing the decision of the Zoning Officer in the denial of a permit to locate pigeon lofts as an accessory use in an R-2 District. The property in question is located in the 600 block of Water Street between Water and Hill Streets. 4. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Weymer, 708 Square Street are requesting a variance of the sideyard require- ments in an R-1 area in order to locate a new single-family dwelling on an existing lot. All interested parties are invited to attend. Borough of Mount Joy Zoning Hearing Board Mt. Joy Council names William Bower Mount Council was asked to ap- prove a waiver of off-street parking for Dr. Ephraim Awad, 75 E. Main St., Mount Joy. Dr. Awad made the request because he would like to convert a 25X30 foot garage into a veterinary clinic. The borough tabled the request for a month. Council will check with its solicitor and study the ordinances. Council also appointed William Bower to fill the unexpired term of Ronald Hawthorne who resigned. Mr. Bower is a 29 year-old CPA. He lives on Donegal Springs Road. His term will expire Jan. 1, 1978. Council also approved a grant contract from HUD for $100,000 to finance the crossroads storm sewer project. Construction of the storm sewers will begin in January and should be completed by April 1S. Small game season Another surge in PA’s fall hunting activities will be recorded with the open- ing of the early small game season and the season on two species of migratory game birds on Saturday, October 16. Squirrel, grouse, Wil- son’s or jacksnipe and woodcock will be the spec- ies that can be hunted on that date. Seasons on most of the other small game species open two weeks later. Squirrels have probably been the most underhar- vested small game species in the state for a number of years. Ordinarily, about two million bushytails are taken annually in PA, and field reports indicate that there should be an ade- quate supply of squirrels this year, with local excep- tions. Some concentrations of grouse can be found throughout the state, and hunters this “year could again approach the harvest figure of 225,000 birds usually taken yearly in the commonwealth. Local populations of woodcock and snipe pro- vide stimulating opportun- ities for hunters, and mig- rating birds add to the hunting excitement associ- ated with these fine game species. In ‘‘average’’ years, upwards of 200,000 woodcock can be taken by Keystone State hunters. Six squirrels are permit- ted to be taken daily by hunters, who may have twelve bushytails in pos- session after the opening day of the season. ~ SHARP’S DISTRIBUTORS Beer & Ale Porter & Soft Drinks 10 Decatur St., Marietta—426-3918 Joy Borough SUSQUEHANNA TIMES - Page 15 ONOTA “MAZDA NEW CARS START AT $2789.00 Always a wide selection BINGO of import & compact used cars.
