Lots of talent at Marietta picnic The Marietta Community- picnic was held last week- end at the War Memorial Park. About 400 people attended the event. Winners in the talent show were Steve Butz (1st), Laura McMillen (2d), and Johnathan Bridgett (3d). An originality prize went to Mary Gutshall for her piano composition. talent Isabelle Ralph Judges for the show were Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Miller. Judges for the originality award were Debbie Smith, Kathy Blasick, and Jay-Lee Kennedy. The Community Chorus performed, hand-dipped ice cream was served, an old-fashioned calliope played, and binge games went on all day. Dennis Shumaker, and Mary Jane Demmy of the Bi-centennial Committee organized the event. August 25, 1976 Band tunes up at Gettysburg by Hazel Baker Approximately one hund- red fifty personnel attended the Donegal High School Band Camp at Gettysburg College. Instructors in- cluded, Albert Sacko (guest drill instructor) Walt Foltz (percussion) Art Bachman (band front) Miss Helena Sacko (assistant drill in- structor) Miss Dori Smith (baton instructor) and Glen Leib (director). The group learned two shows while at Gettysburg and will present these at a special exhibition, Saturday morning. Featured tunes in the shows include ‘‘Mala- guena’’, ‘‘Jive Talkin’’, ‘‘Bad Blood’’, ‘‘Looney Tunes’’, “1 Won’t Last a Day’’, ‘“‘Sounds of Young America’, “This is My Country’’, and ‘‘The Hustle of Rock Around the Clock”’. The nurse on duty for the week was Mrs. Frank Eichler while Banks Wag- ner served as custodian of properties.
