Farm Diners center fielder, Dottie Krafft had a beautiful throw to her sister, catcher Tess Krafft to prevent a run. Chiques was able to load the bases several times but just couldn’t manage to score. Chiques’ Karen Wolge- muth had several good ‘“saves’’ in center field. Wednesdays 1st contest saw Chapman’s play Mount Joy at Kunkle Field. Chap- mans kept ahead 6 to 3 until the 3rd inning and then Mount Joy had quite a rally, winning the game 15 to 12. Chapman’s left fielder, Sue Seitz had several terrific catches while Mount Joy’s 1st baseman, Nancy Jo Green- awalt had a 2 run homer. Also on Wednesday, play- ing under rather wet con- ditions, Marietta topped Chiques 11 to 10 even though Chiques out hit them 14 to 11. Chiques shortstop, Joan Shiley bat- ted 3 for 3 with 2 doubles despite her sprained wrist. Marietta’s centerfielder, Loris Raber also batted 3 for 3; There were two games on Thursday. In the first game, Farm Diner topped Heistand’s Chrys/Ply. 25 to 16. It was a good game for Heistand’s scoring 16 runs against a top team. Teresa Gingrich had a grand slam while Sally Fanus added a triple and Chris Mohr had 3 singles. In the second game, Chiques was back to its old self, topping E-Town Merchants 14 to 3. Pacing the hitting dept. for Chiques was pitcher, Betty Ruhl, going 4 for 4 with a home run, while Robin Pflieger, relief 1st baseman added a double. Not to be outdone, Chiques catcher- manager, Barb Hoover, batted 3 for 4 in both this week’s games. In her 1st game, E-Town Merchants new pitcher, Sue Zerby hit a triple and a double. Joy swim team Mount Joy swimmers are hard at practicing for their first meet on Tuesday, June 29th. Our swimmers traveled this past week to Willowood Club in Eliza- bethtown for a practice meet. These children are also working hard at a pizza sale taking orders for frozen pizzas to be deliv- ered July 10th. Anyone wishing to buy pizzas can contact any swim team member before July Sth with orders. There has been a change in the schedule for the second meet, of July Sth. Conestoga Valley ‘‘B’’ Team will host the meet at their pool on July 8th (Thursday eve). Change due to the holiday week- end. Mount Joy Swim Club has announced they will be holding the Divisional Swim Meet for our division at the Lions Pool, Saturday, July 31st. This is the first in many years since the event has been held in Mount Joy. All parents of swimmers are urged to come out July 6th, 7:30 p.m., at the pool for a meeting on organization of this event and all cooperat- ing parents will be getting involved in this project. Coach Buchenauer has scheduled swimmers to go to Invitational Swims on the following schedule list- ed below. July 3rd - Conestoga Valley. July 17th - Lititz Springs. July 24th - Brookside Relay Carnival. J. McLauglin gets BA Joseph J. McLauglin of Mount Joy received a Bachelor of Business Ad- ministration degree from Penn State this spring.
