oH [AY rr June 23, 1976 Mr. and Mrs. William Meyers Myers celebrate 50th anniversary Mr. and Mrs. William H. Myers, Jr. 624 Church Street, Mount Joy, were honored at a surprise drop-in party held at the Florin Fire Hall, Sunday, June 20. The party was in honor of their golden wedding anniversary. They were married by the late Rev. A. L. Haesel- er at the parsonage of the United Brethren Church at Manheim, June 26, 1926. Leisure by Jos. Shaeffer The Mount Joy Leisure Club met on Monday, June 14, with 123 members present for a birthday party. President Joe Shaef- fer officiated. The first part of the meeting consisted of a musical program, a very delightful and entertaining program by Rev. Kohler of St. Mark’s United Metho- dist Church, son Mike and daughter Jennie. It was such an outstanding pro- gram that the Kohlers were given 2 standing ovation. Following their program President Shaeffer called the meeting to order with the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Nedra Brandt read the secretary's report and Kathryn Zink gave the treasurer's report. In the absence of Ruth Brandt of the Sunshine Committee, Lena Eshleman reported 13 cards sent to shut-ins and one sympathy card sent. The birthdays and anniversaries were honored and the following new members introdyced,Mary Ellen Hown, Ruth Brene- man, Mable Bleechler, Margaret Fackler, Belle Ludwig, and Rev. Ezra and Dorothy Ranck. President Shaeffer again mentioned They are the parents of one son, Robert W., Mount Joy, and have four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Myers is still active in his plumbing business. He retired after 45 years, from the former Bachman Chocolate Company, in 1964. Mrs. Myers is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry P. Wise- garver and Mr. Myers is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Myers, Sr. Club news in detail about the bus trip to Wellsboro on June 19, and stated the Golden Age Fellowship of Chiques Methodist Church were scheduling a bus trip June 23 to the Franklin Mint and to see the Liberty Bell, and anyone interested in this trip could sign up after the meeting. The meeting adjourned briefly for the second part of the program by Shawn Kreiner. Shawn presented his very fine and thought provoking recitation titled ‘““What America Means to Me’’, which was very well received. Again the meet- ing was called to order and President Shaeffer stated the next meeting would be- held at Hostetters, and would be a covered dish affair beginning at 12 noon. No particular program has been planned for - this meeting. No hostesses were appointed for the July meeting. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned and Rev. Ezra Ranck gave the invocation after which ice cream and cake was served for the birthday party. The party was given by their son and daughter-in- law, Robert W. and Jean Myers, Mount Joy. The golden anniversity couple said the coopera- tion, kindness, and love they shared is why the marriage has lasted. Suzanne M. Doles S. Doles graduates Mrs. Suzanne M. Doles (formerly Suzanne Walters) of Bainbridge and Marietta and a 1957 graduate of Donegal High School re- ceived her Associates De- gree in Nursing from Tia Hondo Coll=ge, Wh ttier California on June 12, 1976. Mrs. Doles is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Walters, 7 Pajill Drive, Marietta, PA. She is the sister of Margaret C. Jacoby, Maytown and Donald R. Pickle, Marietta. Mrs. Doles and her hus- band, Stephen A. Doles (formerly of Bainbridge) and their two children have been residents of California for the past fourteen years. Mr. Doles is a-sociated with Rockwell Interuational of Downey, California. The Doles family is planning a trip East in July.
