Donegal Jaycees. Willis Herr, owner of Herr’s Fruit Stand on Route 441, bought the plate at auction for $100. Willis bought the plate so he could display it in his store. He said, ‘I know the Jaycees are a good organization and I wanted to support them. I thought it would be nice to put the plate on display where the community could see it.” Eighty aluminum plates are still available to the general public. The other 3 brass plates were given to the designer, Joe Hottenstein; the manufacturer, William Nagy; and Hazel Crankshaw. To buy an aluminum plate, call Jay Bixler at 426-1513.
