Page 6 - SUSQUEHANNA TIMES Girl Scouts’ fun day Saturday, May 15, Girl Scouts of the Donegal Neighborhood participated in a Bicentennial Fun Day at Mount Joy Boro Park. After eating lunch the girls played games like: three-legged race, potato race, balloon race, broom and ball race, and a cake walk. Six lucky girls went home with cakes. The following troops and leaders participated: Junior Troop 331-Sharon Marley (Hostesses), Junior Troop 35-Judie Weller, Junior Troop 32-Nancy Kopf, Sen- ior Troop 944-Brenda Cast- line, Brownie Troop 29- Sandy Farmer, Brownie Troop 123-Janet Breault, Brownie Troop 34-Sandy Rice. Several Leaders and helpers have earned year Girl Scout June 1. 1976 Junior Troop #331 held their Court of Awards and Family Picnic. The twelve girls worked very hard to earn a total of 65 badges since their last Court of Awards in December. During the year the girls participated in Flag Cere- monies, a Halloween Party, Needlework Guild Tea, “‘In dian Feast’’, Christmas Party, Thinking Day, Girl Scout Sunday, Flames of Freedom, Bake Sale, Walking Tour of Mount Joy, trip to Hershey to hunt for arrow heads, the Opera Daisy, Bicentennial Fun Day for Scouts, Week end Camping, Brownie Fly- up and the two Court of Award Ceremonies. While camping the girls participated in an initiation of the new girls and Miss Diane Rice, a 2 1/2 hour hike on the Horseshoe Trail, and cooking out- doors. They especially liked making ‘‘stew’’, dinner-in- a-can on Saturday evening. Many of the girls were dressed in long dresses of colonial times. On May 27, 1976 Betsy Marley entertained five friends at a Birthday Din- ner. The following girls were at the party: Patti Kline, Grace Snyder, Kathy Lippiatt, Jill Brocious and Sue Barbour. They played games, had a scavenger hunt and enjoyed a spag- hetti dinner followed by birthday cake. Betsy’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Marley and her brother, George also joined in the celebration. Troop 331 The girls would like to thank Mrs. Sue Gantz for driving us to camp and home, Miss Diane Rice for going camping with us and Mrs. Eliner Ruhl for show- ing us how to make centerpieces for a dinner or buffet table. Also all the parents who contributed so much for a very successful bake sale.Also Mrs. Marlane Henly for being cookie chairman. The girls worked very hard all year on badge work, learning as they worked. They also had fun and games mixed in with the work to keep from getting bored with **work’’. They learned the Bunny Hop and Square Dancing and the Hokey Pokey.
