Zink, 301 East Main Street, to locate single family semi-detached dwellings in an R-2 area was denied. The proposed site, known as, Pennsbury Manor is located in the Crossroads, South Market Avenue, Don- egal Springs Road area. A special exception was Myrtly granted to Mrs. Sipling, 46 West Main Street, inorder to locate an apartment in a commercial establishment located at her business address, 48 West Main Street. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Schatz, 504 West Main Memorial Street, were granted a variance on sideyard re- strictions in order to locate a garage at the rear of their property. The United Tele- phone Company, 40 North Third Street, Columbia, requested an extension on its variance granted to locate a trailer at its Mount Joy Office located at Apple- tree Alley and Comfort Alley. Equipment Supervisor, Paul Holder, told the board the project, to build a reporting center, had to be postponed on account of the economy, but is now back into the United Telephone Company budget. The variance was granted until May, 1978. Day plans in Marietta The Rev. Aristede Red will be the speaker for the annual Memorial Day cele- bration to be sponsored by the Zink-Penwell American Legion and the William Brenner Post #466, Mari- etta. The parade will be held Monday, May 31, and will form at the Riverview Elementary School, at 10:30 a.m. The line of march will be west on Market Street to the Square, then north on Gay Street to the cemetery where the ceremonies will be held. Chief Marshal will be James Millar. Father Michael Kobularik of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will offer the Invocation; Rev. Red will deliver the address and the Rev. Arhtur Schir- mer will repeat the bene- diction. Also in the line of march will be the PA National Guard of Columbia. John Penyak, Commander of the local American Legion and its color guard; Richard Smedley, commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Bainbridge Band; Royal Blud Malibus Baton Corps; winners of the essay contest on America; Marietta Jay- cees; Marietta Youth Athle- tic Association; Lancaster National Guard; Donegal High School Marching Band Boy and Girl Scouts; school children bearing flowers to decorate the graves of Veterans; Pioneer Fire Company. At the cemetery, gun salute will be fired and music will be played while the graves are being decor- ated. The sounding of taps will bring the ceremony to a close. The Marietta Olde Town Hall Museum will be open from 1 to S p.m., on the same day. The museum houses local antiques, early boro fire equipment and fire engine, a one room school a country school, and the town clock. Memorial Day plans in Mount Joy The annual Memorial Day Observance will be held Monday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m., at the Mount Joy Memorial Park on Marietta Avenue. W. S. Ebersole Post 185 and V.F.W. Post 5752 will sponsor the service. Rev. Mount Joy dedicated The Mount Joy Flag will be dedicated on May 31, at 10:30 a.m. in the War Memorial Park during the Memorial Day service. A contest was held by the Horizons Committee of the Mount Joy Bicentennial Committee to determine the design of the flag. W. Richard Kohler will be the speaker. Soloist will be Michael Kohler and Troop #39 Boy Scouts of America will assist in the program.
