One of several features in the con- gregation’s bicentennial observance, the Homecom- ing Service coincides with Mount Joy’s special Bicen- tennial Week. The Rev. W. Gary Epler, pastor of the Blue Mountain United Methodist Parish in Lebanon County and a ministerial son of Gloss- brenner Church, will be the guest speaker for the occa- sion. Special music will be provided by the Senior Choir, the Instrumentalists of the church, and Mrs. Joyce Wagner, a former member of the congrega- tion. A special feature of the Homecoming Service will be the recognition of persons who have been members of the Glossbrenner Church for SO or more years. Fifteen members of the congrega- tion will be thus honored. Immediately following the Homecoming Service, there will be a tea and social hour in Fellowship Hall. A Hall of History will be set up in Fellowship Hall displaying memorabilia of the church. Glossbrenner Church was the first former United Brethren congrega- tion to erect a church building in Lancaster County and is the mother church of most former United Brethren congrega- tions in northwestern Lan- caster County. The con- gregation was founded in 1839. The Hall of History will be opened to the com- munity on May 23 (10:30 - 3:00 p.m.), May 29 (3:30 - 7:30 p.m.), and following worship on May 30. The public is cordially invited to attend the Home- coming Service and Social Hour. Nursery care will be provided. Persons are invit- ed to wear their bicenten- nial costumes for the occa- sion. Saint Mary’s news The Altar Rosary Society of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marietta, voted to combine with the Women’s Club at its recent meeting. The May Procession will be held Sunday, May 23rd. Refreshments will be served afterward. Trooper Roland Echnrode spoke on self protection at the regular session after which a question and answer period was held. Elizabeth Nau was hostess for the social hour. The group set September -as the parish picnic month.
