R. May, 60 West Walnut Street, Marietta and Miss Jane Elizabeth Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller, 111 Fairview Avenue, Marietta, graduat- ed from Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing on Sunday, May 16th when ceremonies were held in Hensel Hall, F&M College, Lancaster at 2 p.m. Miss May graduated from Donegal High School and is ; a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Marietta, where she participates in the choir. Miss Miller graduated from Hempfield High School attended Elizabethtown College and is a member of the First Reformed Church, Lancaster, where she is participating in the Sunday School and choir. Stephen Barbour in enlistment Steven R. Barbour, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood R. Babour of 424 Birchland Ave., Mount Joy, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force’s De- layed Enlistment Program recently. : Barbour will graduate from Donegal High School in June and is scheduled for enlistment in the regular air force on September 2. Upon program graduation from the Air Force’s six weeks basic training course he will receive technical training in the Law Enforcement Area. He will be earning credits toward a Career Education Certificate through the Community College of the Air Force while attending basic and other Air Force technica training schools. Leisure Club meets by Jos. Shaeffer The Mount Joy Leisure Club met on Monday, May 10, with 129 members and guests present, the largest attandance to date. The meeting began at 1 p.m. with President Joe Shaeffer officiating. The usual pro- cedure of pledge of alle- giance to the flag, the secretary’s report by Nedra Brandt, treasurers report by Kathryn Zink, and honoring those having a birthday or anniversary during the month of May. Ruth Brandt of the Sun- shine Committee reported 12 cards sent to shut-ins. Two new members were introduced, Mr. and Mrs. John Booth. Guests were Emily Heisey, Florence Wittle, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Miller, Flora Longenecker, Mary Howe, and Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Harding. President Shaeffer announced the bus trip to Washington, scheduled for May 12 was canceled be- cause of the volumn of people visiting the nations capitol, making it necessary o wait in line and a great deal of walking. He then stated a bus trip would be planned for June 19 to Wellsboro, PA to the Laural Festival. To date seventy one have signed for the trip. President Shaeffer read a letter from the Mount Joy Athletic Association, extending an invitation to the Mount Joy Leisure Club, to be their special guests at Kunkle Field on May 28 for a special program and a double-header ball game. Thirty five members will attend. The business meeting ad- journed and the invocation was given by Marlin Kaylor after which cake and coffee was served. The program for the day was an auction. Members were requested to bring items for the auction, and by the time the auction started, three large tables were covered with items, and there was some spirited bidding on some of the items. The next meeting will be held at Hostetters, Monday, June 14. The members are requested to pay for the re- servations to Wellsboro at this meeting. DID YOU HEAR... Miss Kaylor retired in 1971 from Gerberich-Payne Shoe Co., Mount Joy, after S0 years’ service. She was a MISS FLORENCE 1. KAYLOR Florence Irene Kaylor, 82, Dolphin, VA died Wednes- day morning in Greenville Memorial Hospital, Empor- ¢ ia, VA after an illness of several months. Born in Mount Joy, she member of Trinity Evangel- ical Congregational Church, Mount Joy, and for many years was assistant super- intendent of the primary department of the Sunday school.
