The Junior and Youth choirs will sing ‘‘Hosanna to the Living’ by Rogers. The Senior Choir will sing Knapp’s ‘‘Open the Gates of the Temple” with Stephen Smith as solo- ist. Mr. Clarence Stine, guest trumpeter, will play ‘The Palms’’ by Faure and a des- cant to the closing hymn. The Rev. Clair L. Wag- ner, Jr., pastor, will preach on the theme: ‘““Keep Us Clear...and Save Us,” the 6th in a Lenten series on The Lord’s Prayer. The service will also include the recep- tion of new adult members. Palms will be distributed at the conclusion of the ser- vice. A Palm Sunday Family Night will begin at S p.m. with a carry-in supper. At 6:15 p.m., the Youth Fel- lowship of the church will present the play, ‘‘Jesus Minus Ten’’ by Alexander T. Coyle in Fellowship Hall. The public is cordially invited to share in any of these Palm Sunday celebra- tions. SUSQUEHANNA TIMES ~- Page 17 SADDLEBAG CIRCUIT by W. Richard Kohler ‘‘Saddlebag Circuit,”” an intriguing drama depicting the founding of the Evangel- ical Association - a fore- runner of the United Meth- odist Church - will be presented by Maranatha Productions, Inc., at the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Mount Joy. The date is Wednesday, April 7th, the time is 7:30 p.m. Graphically designed to present the itinerant minis- try of Jacob Albright, SADDLEBAG CIRCUIT ex- citingly, yet enthusiastical- ly, recreates events from two hundred years ago which were the seeds of a future church. Jacob Albright, a farmer and tilemaker living near Ephrata in the late 1790s, traveled on foot and on horseback to share the Gos- pel with his German and PA-Dutch speaking neigh- bors. He found himself harshly criticized and cen- sured by area preachers. When church doors were locked to him, he preached in barns, homes, school- houses, even along the road. He was brutally beaten while preaching in Schaef- ferstown and was chased out of Hamburg with a whip. Still, some believed, and a church was in the making. SADDLEBAG CIRCUIT was written by Dan Neider- myer, executive producer of Maranatha Productions, Inc., who is an associate lecturer of communications at the Evangelical School of Theology, Myerstown. Within this hour-long his- torical drama German choruses used during the 17060’s with actually be sung and the costumes will be patterned after those of that time. This program is the last of an historical series of Wed- nesday evening Lenten pro- grams designed for the Bicentennial year. They have focused on Martin Boehm, Philip William Ot- terbein, Susanna Wesley, and Jacob Albright. To this outstanding per- formance the people of St. Mark’s Church invite the community. PALM SUNDAY by W. Richard Kohler Palm Sunday will be the occasion for baptism and the reception of new members at St. Mark’s United Meth- odist Church, Mount Joy. Both infant and adult bap- tismal rites will be observed at the 10:15 Worship Hour. The Good Friday Com- munity Service will be held at the Mount Joy Mennonite Church from 1 to 3 p.m. AT FLORIN CHURCH The Lenten Service this evening, Wednesday, April 7, in the Florin Church of the Brethren, will climax the cooperative series of ser- vices sponsored by the Glossbrenner United Meth- odist Church and the Florin Church. Throughout the Lenten season the theme of the Wednesday evening ser- vices has been ‘‘The Cross- Were You There?’ To- night's concluding worship will focus on the emphasis of ‘‘Beneath the Cross.’ Special music will be brought by the Florin Church Senior Choir and by several solos. The atmo- shere of this evening will be somber and meditative, in an attempt to recreate the experience of standing by the Cross of Christ at the time of His crucifixion. Because of the nature of the worship service, no one will be seated after 7:15, the time of the beginning of this unusual service. All are warmly urged to avail themselves of this climactic worship experience this evening, at 7:15 in the Florin Church of the Breth- ren, 81S Bruce Ave., Mount Joy. DONALD WHITESEL The Rev. Donald M. Whitesel, Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Mount Joy, announces the Easter Day services for that parish. At 8:30 there will be a service of Holy Communion wiht hymns and meditation. The Paschal Candle repre- senting the Risen Christs’ presence will be blessed and lighted. The Festival Choral Eucharist and Sermon will “begin at 10:30 a.m. The junior choir directed by Mrs. Donald Whitesel will sing as the gradual Mozart's Alle- luia. The senior choir led by Mrs. Kenneth Warren will sing the anthem Sing Alleluia by Anthony Garlick. Dr. David Schlosser will be the organist for both ser- vices. Father Whitesel will be the celebrant and the preacher. He will be assist- ed by Mr. Albert Peterson and Dr. Stanley Smith, parish lay readers. St. Luke's will be decora- ted with lilies, tulips, ferns, and white geraniums. All the services will be from the Book of Common Prayer and an invitation is extended to the public to worship at any service in St. Luke's Church located at South Market Street and Columbia Avenue. FOR THE CHURCH PAGE The following special Easter season services have been announced: a Good Friday service at the Mount Joy Mennonite Church on Friday, April 16, from 1 to 3 p.m.; a community sunrise service at the Florin Church of the Brethren, Easter morning at 6 a.m.; a com- munity sunrise service at the Salunga Pavilion at 6:30 a.m. on Easter morning.
