Mrs. Heistand is selling plants to raise money for a small village in the Dominican Republic. Kathy and Ed Brainherd, Mrs. Heistand’s daughter and son-in-law, do missionary work in the village. The money Mrs. Heistand raises will be used te dig a well for irrigation. The village is in a low rainfall area, and the people often can’t raise crops in the dry ground. The infant death rate is 60 percent. People who want plants can stop at Mrs. Heistand’s heme on Bainbridge Road near the intersection with Donegal Springs Read. There is a sign out front that reads, ‘House Plants’. E-town library movies The Elizabethtown Public Library has announced a series of films to celebrate the nation’s Bicentennial recently. To be shown Tuesday nights at 7:00, the films will trace the nation’s history through the last two hundred years. The series, started on January 13, will continue for a ten-month period, ending on October 19. The highlight of the program promises to be the thirteen-episode series, ‘‘America,’”’ written and narrated by Alistair Cooke. Designed to cover the history of the nation from its founding te the present the film series provides a quick and entertaining re- view of the major events and persenalities important to America. Librarian Susan Bowser has remarked about the films, ‘*“What more approp- riate way to celebrate the Bicentennial than by renew- ing our knowledge of our nation’s past?”’ The films will be held at the Elizabethtown Public Library.
