after November 17th the several Passenger
trains will leave " Upper-station," Marietta,
as follows: Marietta Accommodation Trail)
Fast at 7:15 in the morning. The Mail Train
Nest at 12:09—noon. The Harrisburg Ac
commodation Train East at 2:16 in the after
noon ; the same train West at 6:55 in the eve
ning. The Mail Train East at 6:26 in the
evening.

ear Our usual variety is curtailed this
week in consequence of the lengthy ad
vertisement of the County finances, but
as this le a very important paper to every
tax payer, for we think every intelligent
person has a right to know what be
comes of the taxes. Lancaster county is
a great county and her expenses are very
heavy, hut whilst her purse strings are
in the hands of such men as Doner and
Spencer not a dollar will be,misused.
er The S. B. Thomas Rifles will give
their first annual ball on Monday the
23d instant. This company, we are glad
to learn is about to uniform themselves,
hence the ball; the proceeds to go to
ward accomplishing this object. Our
borough has every reason to feel a pride
in The Rifles and', all should be anxious
to have them equipped cap-a-pie. This
company is composed of the best mate
rial our vicinity can produce and we are
anxious to see them fostered. Go to
the ball if for no other reason, to help
to equip The Rifles.
Notwillstanding all the charges
brought against the steward of the Coun
ty Almehonse and the investigation so
much talked of, the Directors of the
Poor re-elected him. The following are

LOCAL.. PERSONALS :—Capt, Frederick
S. l'yfer, formerly of Lancaster, has been
recommended for Lieutenant Colonel of
the 77 P. V., by the line officers of the
regiment. Ja`cob 8. Dellett formerly of
Columbia, and for a short time in Dr.
Grove's. Drug store in Market street,
died, very puddenly in Philadelphia, last
week. John Musser, adjoining this
borough, carries off the palm for having
produced more tobacco to the acre than
any one yet turned-up in this section.—
It is not only tobacco that Mr. Musser
excells in raising, but in all kind of farm
ing he is ua Jait. The income orseven
acres amounting to the neat sum of four
teen hundred dollars. Quartermaster
McClure, of the 45th P. V., when last
beard of was on special service, visiting
Harper's Ferry, Newport Newiand oth
er localities where the 45th have been
stationed, gathering up the property of
the Regiment left behind in hurried ad
laces. Jacob Gorden, employed at the
cooper shops of J. VI. Bucher, near
Manheim, rec'entirmade twenty-five flour
barrels, from 6 o'clock A. M., to 8.45
P. M. Col. Emlen Franklin of the 122 d
P. V, is nu a visit to his facnily at
Lancaster. Dr. J. T. Baker, has insti
tuted suit against Messrs. Gast, Metz
ger and Martin, members of the Board
of Directors of the Poor, charging them
with misdemeanor in office. General
Glatz of the State State has our thanks
for legislative favors. Thomas J. Steers,
formerly a Lancasteritin, who has two
eons in the federal army, turns out to be
in the rebel service ; be was supposed
dead until very recently he turned up in
relteldom.
The Germans of this place will
give a bait ou Monday evening the 23d
at the Towa Hall. • A large delegation
is expected frora the neighboring towns.

We, the undersigned Auditors of
Lancaster county, do certify, that we
have carefully examined the, above ac
count of John Denlinger, Esq., Treasur
er of said County, and- have compared
his vouchers with the same and find a
Balance in his hands of Forty-one thous
and eight hundred and seventy-three
dollars, ($4l, 873 00.)
• We have examined the account of
Christian Gast, Esq., Treasurer of the
Poor and Rouse of Employment of Lan.
caster county, and find a balance in his
hands of Two hundred and thirty-one
dollars and eighty-two cents, ($231 82)
on the first of January, 1863.
We have also examined the account
of Joseph Samson, Esq., Treasurer of
the Board of Prison Inspectors and
found it correct, Showing a balance in
his hands Fifty-four dollars and seventy
four cents ($54 74) on the first day of
January, 1863.
The liabilities of the county at the
present time for individual loans at five
per cent per annum amount to $121,-
783 25 • deducting the above amount in
hands of the Treasurer $4l, 873 00 would
show an indebtness of $79 910 25. The
outstanding taxes amount to $l6, 562-
4Al in witness whereof we have hereunto
set our hands at the Commissioners Of
fice this twenty second clay of January,
