SATURDAY, 'SEPTEMBER 20,1862.
TFIE S. B. THOMAS Rlviss t—This fine
company left upper station on Wednes
day noon for Harrisburg. At an early
hour the town was armed by the sharp
e-at-a-Cat of the dram and by car time
a vast crowd had collected at the de;
pot to witness the 'embarkation of the
ompany. They numbered fifty-five rank
vicd file t Captain- William H. Eafge
first lieutentant, Harrison Both; sec
ond lieutenant, William Kendig. This
company left in better condition than any
that had proceeded it from this place ;
the boys were all In excellent spirits,
having been amply provided with every
comfort that a soldier could "lug along"
—gum blankets, wollen shirts, overcoats,
shawls, tin clips, knives, forks and spoons
and large haversacks, (which, by the way,-
were made and presented by the Patri
otic Circle) filled with "provender" for
the inner man, and last, but not least,
Capt. Eagle saw that his men should be
fortified against any attack similar to
the one made by the plug-uglier of Haiti
more on the Mapsschusetts boyS, by
having his men armed with rises and ten
rounds of cartridge--thus they went forth.
prepared to defend themselves, and the
State, "to the die." This company is
composed of the very best material of
this section, a majority of them having
left business at home, and some very
lucrative situations for the trifling pay
of a private in the militia. Moreover,
they have not gone to 'defend the . State
only, but, as some of them said on en
tering the cars "to. go wherever the
Government most needs us." All honor
to such uses.
cEr Thera appears now to be no 'acre
doubt that JohnllcAdams, Isaac Wolf

prisoners in Richmond. Mrs. McAdams
Laving, & few days since, received a let

writes that all was taken from the par
ty but their clothing. They were a kind
of sutler•pedlars and had their entire
stock confiscated by the rebels. They
say, however, that they are aot badly
treated.

or We were treated on Monday night
to a delightful serenade, by our friend
Harry Wolfe, who .had in charge the
suspected spy, who, by the way; sings
very sweetly and plays the guitar well.
After all, however, there appears to be a
want of something when wo don't hear

LADIES : Allow me, in behajt of our
sick and wounded soldiers, to sin
cerely thank you for your benevolent
contribution to their wants. Your se
lection was admirably and judiciously
appropriated to the Union Hotel and
Presbyterian Church Hospitals in this
city. Could you look in upon us as
your gifts are distributed, and see among
our suffering soldiers their sparkling,
eyes and smiling countenances, yen
would feel as I. do, that thanks are but
empty sounds and but meagerly express
the gratitude they feel for these favors
bestowed by the dear ones at home.—
God bless you in your efforts, and cheer
your hearts and strengthen your hands
in ycur labor of love and patriotism,
We would be glad at any future time
to receive a similar remembrance.

so that they can endure great fatigue. It
soothes and relieves the inflamed and'stiffened

Extraordinary Military Salve
The lonely sentry walking his roundaat
night, exposed to drenching rains and chillzd
night air, is often seized with most ViOLENT
Paists, Cough and suffocating Hoarseness,
first symptoms of quick consumption, but if
supplied with Holloway's Pills and Hollo
way's Ointment, all danger is averted, a few
Pills taken night and morning, and the Oint
ment briskly rubbed twice a day over the
throat and chest will remove the severest
pains and stop the most distressing or Danger
ous cough. Therefore we say to the whole
Army.
Soldiers Attention !!
See to your own health, do not trust to the
Army supplies, although most valuable.—
These Pills and Ointment have been thorough
ly tested, they are the only remedies used in
the European Camps and Barracks, for over
forty years Doctor Holloway has supplied all
the Armies in Edrope, and during the Crimean
Campaign he established a depot at Balaclava,
for the exclusive sale of these Great Remedies.
many-a time his special Agent there has sold
over a ton in weight of . the Ointment in a
single day. These terrible and fatal enemies
of the SOLDIERS ID: CAMP,
Dierlica, Dysentery, Scurvy, Sores and Scrofu
lous Eruptions, all disappear like a charm
before these pins 4- Ointment, and now while
the cry rings throughout the land,
lb ,Armsl TO Arms!!
Do not let these brave men perish by discusa
place in their hands these Precious Rented es,
that will enable them to resist the dangerous
exposures, the Fevers, the Chills, and the
wounds - which they cannot avoid, and what is
more, cannot frequently get succour in the
moment of need, whereas if our brave men
have only to put their hands into their Knap
sacks and find there a sure remedy for all the
casualties of the battle field. Blow many
thousands of lives would thus be saved who
would otherwise perish before relief could be
obtained.
