Rrcrmomo, alay 13,1865:—1t is not with. out considerable regret that I announce the escape of the' notorious Dick Turner from the Libby P i nson, on night before last, by breakin ,, , or removing. one of the iron bars which separated him from the street. This man was one of the under-strappers or keep era of Libby in rebel times, and excelled all he other barbarians in inflicting the most brutal and murderous treatment upon Union prisoners.. It is hardly possible f'or an indi vidual to achieve as rough infamy in a simi- Jar position as has fallen to the share of Tur ner. His place of confinement was under ground—Ms food bread and water, and a sentry was posted before his door to prevent such a misfortune as has taken place. As no guard was in front of the building, on the . pavement, it is possible that .some assistance was furnished by sympathizing friends from the outside, who offered him shlter and food. The Libby has recently been used as a camp of distribution, and with the exception of Turner; Judge Ould, and Captain Hatch, the Commissiohers of Exchange, no other persons are .confined there. Castle Thunder. • Castle Thunder is used by the authorities as the military prison. and affords a securer place for criminals than Libby, having been fitted up for that purpose. it is due to the authorities to state that since Dick's escape, a sentry has been posted in front of, his place ,of confinement. He has not been arrested yet, nor is there much likelihood of his re• ,capture where he has so many biding places among the rebels of Virginia. At rest of Bunter. R. N. T. Itunter, ex-U. S. Senator, was arrested a few days since in Essex county, by a guard !sent to look him up. It is not know'n where lie is confined or 'whither be has been sent. Governor Pierpont.
