The five young latMos present should have had no fear Troinkle when there were five young, brave esoorts apiece, who would probably go through rain, mud, fire or water to please their Jolly companions. John Singer is nt present moving from his former place to the old school house by Sheridan's which has been undergoing a series of im provements for the past month. May and LiUie Gumble have left our little community to seeK im ployment in town. Mrs. C. J. Scnlager and son re- turned to Hawley Sunday, alter spending part of last week with friends in this place. We hear that there will be a party at the home of Henry Gumble every Saturday night as soon; as the weather is warm enough, so the oouple that occupies the hammock will not take oold. There will be ice cream, cake ana lemonade furn ished to the crowd at very reason able prices, and "the oountry lads and lasssies" are to furnish amuse ment to their "city cousins" by "tripping the light (?) fantastio toe." Acx. MATAMORAS. We presume by this time the Editor of the riifss lias been, figur. atively speaking, deonpitatod for making an alleged mistake of a plain letter "o" for an "a." The item concerning the ConushaugU bridge read painting instead of pointing. We don't know who made the mis take,, but from the racket raised it is evident the Prnws Is not only read but reread and the spelling is also very carefully scannod. The Press made no mistake. It is a much dif cussed question as to whether a number of the town oommittee can act in the capacity as committeeman and road overseer at the same time. Ci n a man audit his own bills is the question. The road across the mountain isiii very bad shape, and, I understand that no money has been apportioned to keep it In order, as the new road is expected to be completed bv September. This piece of road is more traveled than almost any other road and should be kept in, at least passable order, Last week I spent a couplo of dnys at Newton attending court, and I was astonished to find that com plaints were there to be presented to the grand jury including all crimes from assault and battery almost to murder. SEVERE ATTACK OF GRIP Cured by One Bottle ol Chamberlain' Cough Remedy "Wheu I had n attack of the grip last winter (.the second one) I actually cured myself with one bottle of Chamberlain's Cough Rem edy." says Frank W. Perry, editor of the Enterprise, Khortsville, N. Y. "This is the houost truth. I at times kept from coughing myself to pieoes by taking a teaspoonful of this remedy, and when the coughing spell would come on at night I would take a dose and it seemed that In the briefest interval the cough would pass off and I would go to sleep per fectly free from cough and its accompanying pains. To say that the remedy acted as a most agree able surprise is putting it very mildly. I had no idea that it would or could knock out the grip, simply because I had never tried it fur such a purpose, but It did, and it seenicd with the second attack of coughing the remedy caused it to not only be only of less duration, but the pains were far less Bevere, and I had nut used the contents of one bottle before Mr. Grip had bid nie adieu."
