THE CHURCH COLUMN. (By Rbv. C. R. Sci-miKit.) The topic for next Sabbath mom- ing is "The Meaning of Christ a Baptism" and in the evening "Re pentance." There will be services at the Union school house one week from next Sabbath afternoon, Apr. 27. The Pike county Sabbath school association will hold its annual con- vention at Milford May 9. Dr. Roads, who has been tor a long time state secretary, has been appointed general secretary of the Sunday school union of the Methodist Epis copal chnrch. Rev. Hugh Cork is acting in his place, but being unablo to visit us this year has arranged to send the Rev. L. W. Hainor in his place. We wore very much pleased with the lecture of Dr. C. S. Ryman given last Friday evening. It is re freshing to hoar about the people abroad and it is of value to every thoughtfnl mind to have the privi lege of contrasting their typo of life with our own. Our hearty thanks are extended to Dr. Ryman for hin kindness. A very large congregation greeted Dr. Ryman last Sabbath evening. He gave ns a very able sermon on the "Sure Foundation" and closed with a touching appeal to all to be Bure about the foundation of their hope for eternity.
