STKUBLE, of Milford. Towne is to follow Roosevelt, it seams. We will ha ve a lively time of it. The betting in the East is stated to be throe to one on McKinloy based, no doubt, on the hard and colored calculation that prosperity will win. Mr. Hearst's papers are still against the banks, the National banks, the Saving bunks, the private banks, and all kinds of good, safe places whore the people who have money now can keep it. "General" Coxey is also too busy with his steel plant to lead an army of the discontented on to Washing ton. At last accounts "Coin" Harvey was farming a farm, having made all the money he could farming the farmers. While any old ratio will do for me I would strongly urge a different one every tour years. II. Croker, Issuo hiding is by no means a new trlok of the Domooratio party. Mr. Bryan needn't worry about the safety of the Ropublio. There is not a good Amerioan in the whole country who would not give his life to save that same Republic Mr. Bryan says the Republican party puts the dollar before the man. Bo it does, and it is much hotter than placing an empty dinuor pail before him. The sugar trust made the Wilson Goiman tariff bill and Mr. Bryan voted for it. Was that not "placing the money before the man." Senator Hoar's reason for urging the election of McKinloy and Roose velt have had a rather depressing effect upon the Democratic, editors. They have suddenly discovered that he is not a patriot. Dick Croker is quick to attribute disloy ality to those members of Tam many who favor the nomination of an honest man for Governor of New York. If predictions were only electoral votes Chairman Jones would be able to elect several Presidents this year. Bryan's speech of acceptance was devoted to explaining the platform, and now it will be time to explain the explanation. Bryan is not so slow. He deter mined to have the band, the fire works, the speeches, the whoops and hurrahs at the notification moot ing rather than take any chances on a ratification meeting. Hats and caps. The subject of the ser'uon for next Sulilia Ih morning will bo: "Pula's crowning experience," nnd in the evening "Baptism at trie River." The Rev. J. A. Cole was very much pleased with the liborality of our people ill connection with the rebuilding of the seminary at H ick etts town, N. J. Forty dollars were c 'I'tiilintcd. If nil the churches do as well in proportion to their ability tho now institution for christian ed ucation is assured. It, gave ns great ploilsure to seo tho large congregation that canto out to greet the Rev. W. R Neff Inst Kiihlmth evening. His text was a very impressive one "The King dom of Heaven is within you." We do well to bear in mind the fact that the kingdom of heaven is "right eousness, joy and peace in the Holy Ghost" and that all three of these qualities ate possible of attainment in the present life, and the spirit that gives them effect is the present experience of energy true child of God. The invitation to preach in the Presbyterian church last. Sabbath morning was another proof of the good will and fraternal spirit that prevails in Milford. The time has long gone by for antagonism and animosity. Thinking people who posses genuine christian culture have no place in their lives for any thing other than love for every branch of Christs true church. Bishop Simpson well expressed the two ideas of church loyalty and the true fratornal spirit when ho wrote "We live to make our own church a power in the land whilo we live to love every other church that exalts our Christ." Our lawn party on the Bluff House lawn last Tuesday afternoon was a grand snccess. Seventy dollars and sixty-seven cents were left after paying all expenses. This gives us 1114. for our organ fund. We take this opportunity to ettend our thanks to Mr. Bonrnique for the use of the Bluff House lawn ; to all the Bluff House guests who kindly aid ed us ; and to the members and friends of our own church who work ed so faithfully and gave so free ly for the success of the writers chor ishor enterprise. Please except this personal thanks. He would be glad to speak of you all by name but this he cannot do, for all names are not known to him. Through the exceeding kindness of the Bluff House guests a musical was given Wednesday evening in the interest of our organ fund. t28. were turned over ot the close. We have received 99. this week and now, have on hand $143. Not all christian people who oome to the country for a i-ummer outing forgot thoir Lord. The writer has found some very helpful acquaint ances during tho last few weeks. They have been spiritually mindod not in any narrow souse but in a sufficiently broad souse to Include all that is good in mental, social and financial as well as heart things. Their regularity in church attou donce lias a good influence on the community. I have no sympathy! with that oft repeated heresy that city eople are the spiritual curse of our rural towns. There is no doubt that many of them are more than irreligious but not all. Lot justice be done and credit bo given to those who give more than finan cial aid to our rural churches. The sacrifices, that many of our lioople have made, to attend to their religious duties, in their abundant labors, ufford great pleasures to the pastor. These summer mouths have revealed many excellent qualities. Heat and hard work have not kept you from puttiug'on the harness in the Lord's service and in the work of his church. This speuks volumes j for the futuro. When we can all get together and our town churches settle down to their fall and winter labors, thou those who have toiled early and late and have been depriv ed of church privileges will not cease to toil but will spend their quiet winter hours in thought, pray er Hiid effort to build up the chris tian character of Milford. This is our prophecy, shall it not be ful filled? TKKSPASrt NOTICK.
