PAGE 10A THE DALLAS POST Sunday, November 10, 2013 Junior Mounts B and C teams grab Super Bowl victories B team earns sixth straight championship title The Dallas Junior Mounts B team completed its sixth straight undefeated football season with an exciting 22-20 victory against WWWE Panthers to secure the 2013 WVWYFCC Super Bowl title. The title was the sixth straight time this team has compiled a 69-0 record. The Panthers jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Dallas fought back with a touchdown run by Xander Shaner, who plunged over from 3 yards out to put the first points on the board for Dallas. Then Jacob Esposito led Todd Phillips down the side- lines with a key block that sprung Phillips for a 60-yard run. Freddie Lombardo hit Jack Farrell with a 2-point conversion pass that Farrell dove to secure the catch at the goal line. The Junior Mounts defense led by Taylor Bolesta, Hunter Love, Johnny Cantando, Devin Richards, Matt Lukasavage, Duane Craig and Christian Sebastianelli applied pressure on the Panthers in the second half until the Panthers gained a 20-14 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Dallas offense then marched down the field behind great blocking by Colin Zeiss, Mike Lukasavage, Jack Zeyher, Taylor Bolesta, Gage Wasilius and Gabe Hribal. Phillips took the direct snap and punched it in the end zone from 4 yards out to tie the score at 20. Then Phillips rolled right looking for Esposito in the corner of the end zone, Phillips lowered his shoulder and ran it in for the lead with less than 2 minutes on the clock. Jacob Esposito, Jack Farrell, Freddie Lombardo, Hunter Love, Todd Phillips, Christian Sebastinelli, Xander Shaner and Colin Zeiss have been together since they were 6 years old and never lost a game over the last six years. Head Coach Steve Esposito and assistant coaches Kevin Zeiss and Dave Shaner put the game plans together, but it was the hard work and the never quit attitude of the boys that drove their success. C TEAM DALLAS 26 WWWE 14 There was no secret what the Dallas Junior Mounts C team offense was going to do. There were no tricks or deception. Yes, maybe coun- ters and sweeps and the occa- sional pass, but there was no secret that Dallas was going to run the football right at its opponents during the annual Wyoming Valley West Youth Football Conference Super Bowl held Oct. 27 at Wyoming Valley West Stadium. What the Junior Mounts did was line up in an unbal- anced formation and grind out yards behind a big physical offensive line. And the WWWE Panthers just couldn’t stop them. Dallas was able to execute that offensive strategy all year. Coupled with a tough physical defense, it propelled the Junior Mounts to a 26-14 victory over the Panthers, a coveted Super Bowl vic- tory and an unblemished 11-0 record on the year. WWWE won the toss and elected to receive. Dallas actually stopped the Panthers on a fourth down play inside Dallas’ 20-yard line but a Dallas penalty gave the Panthers a first down. Dallas came right back, methodically moving the ball down the field with Mitch Burgess scoring a touchdown and, with the point after being no good ,Dallas was down, 8-6. The Panther lead would be short lived as the stingy Dallas defense imposed its will on the Panthers, stop- ping them on fourth and long at midfield. Dallas took over on offense, doing what it’s done all year - grinding the ball down the field. This time it was Alex “the Manster” Hajikowski scoring on a 1 -ard TD plunge. Point after was no good and Dallas led, 12 -6. After a WWWE 3-and- out, Dallas got the ball back with a little under two min- utes remaining in the half. Executing a 4 wide out 2-min- ute offense and using good clock management, Dallas’s Mitch Burgess almost had a TD pass reception, being tackled on the Panther 3-yard line as time ran out. At the half, Dallas led, 12-6. Dallas got the ball to start the second half and was mov- ing the ball down the field but a fumble gave possession to the Panthers who went on their second scoring drive, taking a 14-12 lead. This would be the last lead of the game as Dallas QB Jared Adamski took over running powers, scoring two TDs and a 2-point conversion to put the game out of reach at 26-14. Adamski helped his own cause by intercepting a Panther pass in his own endzone on a fourth quar- ter WWWE drive . Dallas’s offense kept possession run- ning the clock out to preserve the victory.
