Starting pitcher JD Barrett went all five innings on the mound. Barrett all had four hits, including two home runs, one be- ing a slam. Other hitters for the Sox include Steven Finarelli, Mike and Tony Caravaggio, Matt Roberts and Josh Strausser. Starting pitcher for the Pirates was Justin Marshall followed by Nick Whitesell and closer Chris Murray. Hitters for the Pirates in- clude Justin Marshall, Nick Whitesell and Justin James. Yankees 10 Orioles 6 Darren Kerdesky picked up his second win of the season with four innings of a two-hit, eight- strikeout, shutout relief to lead the Yankees past the Orioles, 10-6. After spotting the Orioles a 6-1 lead after two innings, the Yan- kees came back behind a solid of- fensive attack against a very good Orioles team. Kerdesky led the Yankee offense with two hits while Derek Answini doubled, Collin Pertl tripled and Michael Doggett hit the go-ahead home run to put the Yankees ahead for good. Joseph Brennan and Beau- dyn Lewis both added hits to round out the Yankee offense. Defensively, the Yankees played equally as well with Mark Roginski, Lewis and Brennan making terrific rally killing plays in the field to keep the Yankees in the game early on. Matt Mathers, Devin Robbins and Dalton Simpson all added two hits each to lead the Oriole offense. Dodgers 7 Phillies 6 Ben O'Connell picked up his second pitching win of the season in a rain-shortened game as the Dodgers tripped the Phillies, 7-6. O’Connell recorded seven strikeouts in the win. The Dodg- ers offense was led by O'Connell with two doubles and Henry Sel- ingo with a double and a single. The Phillies Adam Forgione and Adam Borton pitched strong games in the loss. Nate O’Don- nell led the Phillies offense with a pair of triples. Borton, Forgione, Nate Hazletine, Mark Shultz, and Kyle Hromosin each added two hits for the Phillies. Dodgers 14 Pirates 6 Michael James garnered his fifth pitching win of the season in an 11-strikeout effort as the Dodg- ers belted the Pirates, 15-6. Kris Smiga came on in relief to pick up the save. The Dodgers of- fense was led by Alex Kapral’s first homerun of the season. Ka- pral also added two singles and five RBI. Liam O’Brien, Henry Selingo and Freddie Lombardo added a double and a single each. Smiga had a pair of singles. The Pirates pitching was led by Justin Marshall who pitched well through three innings. The Pi- rates offensive attack was led by Justin James with three hits, Nick Whitesell with two hits and Chris Banas with a triple. Yankees 5 Dodgers 1 Collin Pertl struck out seven in leading the Yankees over the Dodgers, 5-1. Pertl also helped himself at the plate with two hits. Bobby Bogu- mil was on base twice and scored a run while Beaudyn Lewis add- ed a triple and scored for the Yan- kees. The tournament featured AAU teams from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Rock Solid Team finished the tournament with a 4-0 record to capture the tournament title. This was the second tournament title in a row for the Rock Solid squad, having captured the Electric City Challenge Tournament the week before at Back Court Hoops in Scranton.
