He was born in Wilkes- Barre, attended the Harry Hillman Academy, Wyoming Seminary Day School and Pre- paratory School and gradu- ated from the Taft School, Wa- tertown, Conn. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947 and then attended Cor- nell University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in ~ Mechanical Engineering. At Cornell, he was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Following college, he re- ceived a commission in the United States Air Force, serv- ing from 1951 until 1953 as an Early Warning Radar Special- ist in Japan. He enlisted in the Aviation Cadet Program in 1942 and flew 35 missions over Europe as a co-pilot and pilot of the B-24 heavy bomber in the 15th Army Air Force based in Italy. Later on, she found employment at the A&P store and the present Thomas’ Fam- ily Market, where she worked until her retirement.
