Community college run
benefits local charities
The Luzerne County Commu-
nity College Health, Physical
Education, and Exercise Sci-
ence Department will hold a
Run for a Purpose 5K Run/Fun
Walk on Saturday, April 14, at 9
a.m., at the college’s campus in
Nanticoke.
Registration fee is $15 per per-
son. Participants can register in
advance or on the day of the
race. Race day registration be-
gins at 8 a.m., at the college’s
gymnasium. Proceeds benefit
local flood relief efforts and oth-
er charities.
Awards will be given to the
first overall male and female in
the 5K Run. Awards also will be
given to the top three finishers
in the following age groups for
both males and females in the
5K Run: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-
39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70
and over. A free T-shirt will be
given to the first 100 registered
participants.
