He was born in Tunkhannock on September 18, 1953, was a 1971 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and a former mem- ber of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge and Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his mother, Joann Klimas Coolbaugh, of Tunkhannock; his wife, Sheri Austin; son, Aaron, of Tunkhan- nock; daughter, Melissa, of Tunkhannock; sisters, Cindy Matalavy, of Mehoopany; Che- ryl Ayre and Cara Coolbaugh, both of Tunkhannock; nieces and nephews and his dog, Yogi. DAVIS - Naomi Elizabeth, 87, of Idetown, Harveys Lake Bor- ough, died Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Mercy Center, Dallas. She was born in Idetown and was a graduate of Lehman High School. Before retiring, she was employed at Native Textiles, Dallas for 25 years. She was a member of the Leh- man-Idetown United Methodist Church, the Dallas American Legion Auxiliary and the Ide- town Fireman's Association. She was an active member of the Lake-Lehman PTA for 30 years and worked for many years for the Band Parents Association of Lake-Lehman. JOHNSON - John “Jack” W., 85 of Dallas, died Thursday, Feb- ruary 2, 2012, at the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes- Barre. He was born June 3, 1926, in ilkes-Barre, and graduated m E.L. Meyers High School, ilkes-Barre in 1944. During World War II, he served in the 6th Marine Divi- sion in the Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart due to wounds he received in Okinawa. He closed his term in the U.S. Marine Corps after serving two years in China. Upon returning home, he served as a police officer in Wilkes-Barre city, retiring with the rank of detective. He then was employed by the Depart- ment of Justice in Harrisburg and was later employed by the United Penn Bank, Wilkes- Barre. He was an active member of the Welsh Bethel Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he had served as a deacon and was a member of the choir. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #35, Ha- nover Township and the Dad- dow Isaac American Legion Post 672, Dallas. PUCHALSKY - John Edward, 89, of Trucksville, died Friday, February 3, 2012, at the Mead- ows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, where he had re- cently been a guest. He was born on July 25, 1922, in Swoyersville and was a gradu- ate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1940. A United States Army Air Force Veteran, he served his country during World War IL Throughout the war, he was a gunner with a B-17 Bomber Crew in the 8th Army Air Force, serving in the European Theat- re. During his time of service, he was decorated with the Ameri- can Theatre Ribbon, the Eu- ropean-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with one bronze star, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his discharge from ac- tive service in World War II, he had attained the rank of ser- geant. After being discharged from the service, he furthered his edu- cation at Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre, where he studied business. He began his career with the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, where he worked for four years. Later, he became employed as an administrative technician for the Department of Army at its facility in Ashley. He retired from the Depart- ment of the Army in 1980 after 30 years of service. Throughout his employment with the Department of the Ar- my, he continued to serve his country as an Army Reservist with the 322nd M.P. Det. (CI), in Ashley. Within the Detachment, he served as special agent/crimi- nal investigator and was as- signed as the operations officer. During the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, he was called back to ac- tive duty with the Army, serving for 10 months. In 1979, he retired from the 322nd Criminal Investigation Detachment, having attained the rank of Chief Warrant Offi- cer 4. He was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini Church, Carverton. He was also a mem- ber of the American Legion, An- drew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville. Surviving are his wife Lena Ann (Orlandini) Puchalski, with whom he celebrated his 63rd wedding anniversary on April 24, 2011; his children, Christine Mathers, of Trucksville; John, of Trucksville; David, of Harvey's Lake; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brothers, Thomas, of Mechanicsburg; Lawrence, of Kingston; sisters, Barbara Ripa, of Swoyersville; Thelma Evanko, of Allentown, New Jersey; and Lorraine Be- bey, of Levittown; nieces and ne- phews.
