Back Mountain residents Steve Davidowitz, David Simp- son and Robert Pembleton will participate in the 2011 ING New York City Marathon on Novem- ber 6 as part of Ryan's Run Team. WNEP-TV’s Ryan Leckey will lead the Allied Services team for the second consecutive year. Due to the success of last year’s effort, Allied moved up from a community level charity to a bronze level charity and will have 20 runners in this presti- gious race. All funds raised will be used to update therapy, equipment and technology at Allied’s Heinz Rehab Hospital in Wilkes-Barre and Allied Rehab Hospital in Scranton, which will benefit both children and adults in Northeastern Pennsylvania with disabilities and injuries. Dallas resident Steve Davido- witz has run the NYC marathon five times, but his sixth will be his first as a member of Team Leckey. He is a Registered Represen- tative with Sammons Securities and serves on the Board of Gov- ernors of Generation to Gener- ation and the Board of Trustees of Temple Israel. He is the father of two chil- dren, Kim, a freshman at The Art Institute of Philadelphia; and Daniel, a sophomore at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His sister-in-law, Sherry Davi- dowitz, is on the Board of Direc- tors of the John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. David Simpson, also of Dallas, has competed in and finished several marathons, including the Philadelphia Marathon in 2009, but has always wanted to finish the “world’s biggest and best marathon.” David and his wife, Tammy, have two sons, David, 13, and Dalton 11, who compete in youth sports in the Back Moun- tain area. Simpson will run the mara- thon in memory of his good friend and colleague at Dia- ‘mond Manufacturing, Rusty Flack. Robert Pembleton, of Shaver- town Back Mountain, has been running for approximately two years with the ultimate goal of competing in a triathlon. He has run multiple 5K races and a half marathon in Washington, DC. Pembleton was sold on the idea when given the chance to repre- sent Heinz Rehab as a member of Ryan’s Run Team. Readers who would like to make a pledge in the name of Davidowitz, Simpson or Pem- bleton name can visit www.al- lied-services.org/ryansrun.
