Wyoming Seminary, with campuses in Kingston and For- ty Fort, will begin its 168th year of classes at the end of August. The Upper School in King- ston will register boarding and day students on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 and 28 for grades nine through 12 and post-graduate. New students will participate in orientation activities on Saturday and Sun- day and freshmen will attend a special freshman retreat on Sunday. A special opening-of-school convocation service will be held on Monday, Aug. 29 at the Upper School. Sem government president Renata O’Donnell ’12, of Wilkes-Barre, will offer words of welcome and will ring the historic Cokesbury Bell 16 times, one for each decade of Wyoming Seminary’s exist- ence, to usher in the new aca- demic year. Rachel Bartron, a member of the science faculty, will address the student body. The Lower School, located in Forty Fort, will open for its first day of classes on Tuesday, Aug. 30 with a convocation for stu- dents in fifth through eighth grades. Orientation for new Lower School students in grades 1-8 will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Aug. 29 and an Open House for new and re- turning pre-school, pre-kinder- garten and kindergarten stu- dents and their parents will be held at the same time. Dr. Claire Smith Hornung, Dean of Primary, announced that the opening convocation for primary grades will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31. A Parents Back to School Night will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26.
