MU schedules three open house programs Misericordia University is offering three open house pro- grams on the Back Mountain campus to give students and their parents an opportunity to spend an informative day tour- ing the 124-acre campus and to meet with students, faculty, coaches and admissions and financial aid counselors. Car show, flea market slated The 28th Annual Back Moun- tain Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show and Flea Market, coor- dinated by the Lake-Lehman Band Sponsors, will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21 at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds, Route 118, Leh- man. Grass should not be on street The Kingston Township Public Works Department reminds township residents that, when cutting their lawns, not to depos- it grass clippings onto township streets. Grass clippings can block storm drains and pose a safety hazard to vehicles traveling the streets. Dallas High School graduate Mike Cleary lost his life on De- cember 20, 2005 during Oper- ation Iraqi Freedom. A group of Mike's friends led the first National Run for The Fallen, a memorial run across the United States, on June 14, 2008. Participants ran one mile dedicated to each soldier who died fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Free- dom, leaving amemorial placard and an American flag for each soldier. Run for the Fallen is set for August 17 That same year, a group of Dal- las Senior High School students held their own local Run for the Fallen, a 5K event to commemo- rate 1st Lt. Cleary and all soldiers who died during the conflict. Now in its fourth year, the Run for the Fallen will be sponsored this year by the Dallas track and cross country teams.
