She was a mem- ber of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was a well-loved waitress for many years. Surviving are her son, Samuel, of Kingston; two daughters, Su- zanne Sult, of York; and Florence Gimble, of Larksville; six grand- children; two great-grandchil- dren; a nephew and a niece. GARRISON - Helen C. Lange, of Tunkhannock, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, in the Meadow- view Senior Living Center, Mon- trose. She was born in Springville on June 14, 1935, and was a 1953 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. Helen was a member of the Springville Baptist Church and, for many years, served as the church’s organist. Prior to her re- tirement, she worked in the poul- try lab at the Department of Agri- culture, Wyoming County and as a school bus contractor for the Tunkhannock Area School, where she also worked as a teach- ers aide. For several years, she was ac- tive in the Kiwanis Wyoming County Fair, serving as chairman of the committee to elect the fair queen. He was born in Scranton on May 2, 1919, and was raised in East Lemon on'what ishow Hen ry-Holod Road. : He was a veteran of World War II and served in England with the U.S. Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant in the squads that supported the bombing mis- sions in Germany. Following VE day, he was on his way to the next mission in Japan when the war ended. He was initially employed by Gay Murray’s Hardware, working in the plumbing department. He later founded and owned Holod’s Plumbing, Heating and Electri- cal from 1950 until his retirement in 1984. He was a lifetime member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Ma- ry Church in Tunkhannock. He was a 50-year-member of the Tunkhannock Kiwanis Club, hav- ing served as president, and he contributed greatly to the Wyom- ing County Fair setup when it was reintroduced in its present location. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Bertha Stroka Holod; chil- dren, Kathryn Burnell, of Clarks Summit; Daniel W., of Tunkhan- nock; Charles, of Augusta, Ga.; and Douglas, of Saint Paul, Minn.; a sister, Helen Poch, of Caldwell, N.J.; six grandchildren and several step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. HONAN -James T., 78, of Lake Township, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at his home. He was born in Piscataway, N.J., and was educated in the Pis- cataway schools. Prior to relocat- ing to the Sweet Valley area in 1993, he resided in Piscataway for 25 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at New Jersey Bell Telephone and later by Verizon as a computer technician. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Mary Hunter; sons, James P., Ann, Raritan, N.J.; and David, Dunellen, N.J.; daugh- ter, Patricia Buczek, Nanticoke; nine grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; sisters, Florence Kershaw, Princeton, N.J.; and Irene Ernest, Cape May Ct. House, N.J.; nieces and nephews. KROMELBEIN -Fern, of Tunk- hannock, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. She was born in Centermore- land on July 15, 1925, and was a graduate of Beaumont High School, class of 1943. She and her late husband, Ha- rold Lee “Bud” Kromelbein, were the owners of Bud's Driving Range, Dairy Bar and Par 3 Golf Course in Waverly, N.Y., from 1958 to 1971. She was a member of the Athens United Methodist Church. He was born October 10, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y., graduated from GAR Memorial High School and attended Wilkes-Barre Business College. He devoted his entire 43-year career to the sales and distribu- tion of national food products. He established national recognition in sales and distribution for com- panies, including Lender’s Ba- gels, Ore Ida Potatoes, Buitoni Food, Dow Chemical, Bosco Cof- fee and Mrs. Paul's Seafood, thereby receiving numerous awards from the food industry. He was recognized many times as National Broker of the Year for these organizations. He performed 33 years of his career as senior vice-president and senior managing partner of Hagerty-Schwartz Associates of Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Wilkes-Barre. He was also foun- der and president of All-Penn Fro- zen Food Distributors during this time. He served on the Board of Di- rectors of the Northeast Pennsyl- vania Manufacturers Association and formerly the Board of Direc- tors of the Wilkes-Barre CYC. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 302, Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick of Greater Wilkes-Barre, Donegal Society and the Westmoreland Club. He was in regular attendance for the Saint Therese Novena for over 55 years, and was a member of the Parish of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Florence Ann Klein, with whom he would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on June 29; his children, Thomas Jr., Shaver- town; James, Forty Fort; Mary Ann Roberts, Dallas; Michael, Wilkes-Barre; and Sean, Harveys Lake; eight grandchildren; a sis- ter, Barbara Alexander, Ocean, N.J. PANAWAY - Anthony Burland, Esq., 83, of Dallas Township, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, in the VNA Heritage House, Wilkes- Barre, after being stricken ill at home. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, and was a graduate of Plains High School, class of 1945, where he was the class president. He grad- uated from King’s College, class of 1950, and continued his educa- tion at the Catholic University, Washington D.C., where he re- ceived his law degree. He practiced law in Wilkes- Barre for over 50 years. He was employed as a buyer and merchandise manager by the J.S. Raub Shoe Corporation for 40 years and was a lifetime mem- ber of its 20-10 Foundation. He was also employed for 20 years by E.S.P. Concrete Pumping. A member of the Lake Silk- worth Lions Club since 1979, he served as past president and trea- surer and past District 14W trea- surer. He was a recipient of the Li- ons Club International’s Melvin Jones Fellow Award for services. He was also a member and past treasurer of the Lead Ball Sports- man’s Club and a member of the Harveys Lake American Legion. He served for 20 years as assist- ant treasurer and treasurer for the Dallas Area Fall Fair Organi- zation.
