DHS DIVERS PLACE AT CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two Dallas High School divers recently won medals at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Swimming &
Diving State Championships held at Kinney Natatorium on the campus of Bucknell University. Junior Sarah Zerfoss placed eighth

eighth-grade boys basketball
team recently finished its 2010-
2011 season in the Eighth Grade
Catholic School league. The final
game celebration included a visit
by middle school teachers Janice
Szczechowicz, Bridget Occhia-
to, Dianne Ruch and Colleen En-
gler and a special presentation of
personal caricatures by Gate of
Heaven School Principal Abe Si-
mon. From left, are Anthony
Huntington, Michael Gatusky,
Kurtis Carichner and Tommy
Calpin. Mike Tomalis was the
eighth-grade coach and Tom Do-
nahue,Hatim Ouladelhad-
jahmed and Fran Calpinassisted.

The Dallas Sixth-Grade Girls
Travel Basketball Team won
the league championship in the
Wyoming Valley West Fall Bas-
ketball League and enjoyed an
undefeated season, going 14-0.

Dallas swimmer Christopher Tamanini won two medals at the
recent PIAA Class AA State Swimming Championships.
Tamanini captures
two state medals
Dallas senior Christopher Ta-
manini captured two state med-
als at the recent PIAA Class AA
Swimming Championships
held at Bucknell University in
Lewisburg.
Tamanini captured fifth place
in the 100 yard butterfly with a
time of 52.82 and seventh place
in the 100 yard freestyle with a
time of 47.82. Both times broke
the old Dallas school records,
previously set by Tamanini.
Along with teammates Brian
Stepniak, Brandon Harding
and Jake Chielli, Tamanini cap-
tured ninth place in the 200 me-
dley relay. Tamanini was also
part of a ninth-place finish in
the 400 freestyle relay which in-
cluded Stepniak,Chielli and
Jon Laity.
The Dallas boys swim team
finished in the top 10 among 59
teams competing for the state
championship.

The Dallas Youth Basketball Championships were played re-
cently at the Dallas High School gym with The Storm winning
the third and fourth-grade girls first-place trophies. Members of
