LockIn Committee meets March 24 The Dallas High School 2011 Graduation Lock-In Committee will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 24 in the high school library. Cabaret Night at Lake-Lehman HS Cabaret Night will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 25 at the Lake-Lehman High School. Tickets are priced at $3 and are available at the door the night of the event. The event is a fundraiser for the Lake-Lehman High School Theatre Troupe which will pre- sent “Cinderella”April 8-10. Homemade snacks and goodies will be available for sale at the event, which has been organized students Ronnie Ziomek and nna Mortenson. LockIn Committee plans rummage sale The Dallas High School Se- nior Lock-In Committee will hold its second annual rum- mage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 in the high school gymnasium. There will be a variety of items ranging from jewelry, clothing, toys, books, household items, furniture and appliances. There will also be a Prom/ Formal Wear Section, a Bake Sale and a Basket Raffle. Donations are requested and should be dropped off at the school from 3 to 8 p.m. on Fri- day, March 25. MU group promotes light-out event Misericordia University’s environmentally-focused stu- dent group, Cougars for Change, is asking everyone in the com- munity to turn off their lights for just one hour beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 as part of a world-wide initiative to draw attention to responsible energy use and global warming. More than one billion people worldwide are expected to turn off all non-essential lights for Earth House 2011. The time for the global event was chosen because it coincides with the spring equinox and when most places on earth are suitably in the dark. Sem plans Open House for March 31 Wyoming Seminary Lower School invites families to attend the Preschool, Pre-K and Kin- dergarten Open House from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 31 the school’s Forty Fort campus, 1560 Wyoming Avenue. Families may tour preschool, pre-kindergarten and kindergar- ten classrooms and speak with the dean of the Primary Divi- sion, teachers and admission staff about Sem’s early child- hood program. MU group plans Relay for Life The Colleges Against Cancer Chapter at Misericordia Uni- versity is holding a two-day Relay For Life fundraising event on campus by McHale and Gil- dea Students Residence Halls by the North Gate on campus to benefit the American Cancer Society from 7 p.m. on April 1 to 7 a.m. on April 2. Interested participants can form a team or participate indi- vidually for a $15 registration fee per person. Each participant receives a Relay For Life T-shirt. DMS scientists take third place Dallas Middle School finished in third place in the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Science Olympiad at Penn State / Wilkes-Barre. The event was under the direction of Daniel Blessner, lecturer of physics, and Karen Brace-Hodle, external relations assistant, at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. More than 750 students from 52 schools in northeastern and cen- tral Pennsylvania competed in 36 individual and team events, in- cluding Bottle Rocket, Disease Detective, Forensics, Junkyard Chal- lenge, and Mousetrap Vehicle. The Science Olympiad is devoted to increasing student interest in science, recognizing outstanding achievement and improving the quality of science education. First-place winner in the Middle School division was JT Lamber Intermediate School while second-place honors went to Wyoming ‘Area Middle School.
