Dallas grapplers get big rival win The Dallas Mountaineers @:i more than 40 years of \ wrestling at the current Dallas Senior High School with a 66-8 drubbing of rival Lake- Lehman on Jan. 26. Dallas used six pins, includ- ing one in the final contested wrestling match in the gymna- ~sium’s history, en route to the Wyoming Valley Conference Division II win. Dallas had one home meet remaining on this year’s schedule but the following week’s meet against Hanover Area was held at the Dallas Middle School. The Dallas School District is building a new high school and the current one will be torn down in June. The cur- rent high school was built in 1962 when Dallas Township, Dallas Borough, Kingston Township and Westmoreland high schools merged to form the Dallas School District. After Lake-Lehman took a 3-0 lead with a Jake winters’ decision at 140 pounds, the Mountaineers reeled off 10 consecutive wins and 54 unan- swered points. Jim Roccograndi (145 pounds) and Shawn Sekelsky (160 pounds) each won by fall before Adam Goeringer (189 pounds), Jeremy Roberts (285 pounds) and Dominick De- Graba (103 pounds) also pinned their opponents. Sekelsky, Goeringer and De- Graba’s pins each took place in the first period. In addition to Sekelsky’s pin at 160, Billy Dixon and Dominick Chopka posted wins by decision at 152 and 171, respectively. Lake-Lehman freshman Austin Harry was impressive in a 16-0 technical fall win at 125 pounds. In the last con- tested match, Dallas sopho- more Zach Macosky and Lake- Lehman senior Branden Vi- tack took the mat. The two wrestlers battled in a close contest but with a little more than a minute remaining, Ma- cosky was able to turn Vitack over on his back. Lady Mounts gets 16th season win he Dallas High School girls basketball team picked up its 16th victory of the sea- son with a 51-24 drubbing of Wyoming Area on Monday night. Katie Darling led the Lady Mountaineers with 10 points. The Dallas girls scored 17 goals and shot 11 for 17 from the free & throw line.
