Born in Noxen, she was a daughter of the former Marie O. Patton Mac- millan, of Noxen, and the late Wil- liam Macmillan. She was educated in the Lake-Noxen schools. For many years she was employed at the Ann Will Garment Co., formerly of King- ston, and prior to her retirement she was employed as a home health aide. CHABAIA - Joseph M. Sr., 69, of Dallas, passed away Wednesday, De- cember 15, 2010, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital when he lost his battle with cancer. Born in Plains Township, he was a son of the late Michael and Helen Chabala. After attending Larksville grade school, he was a graduate of St. Vincent's High School, Plymouth, class of 1959. Before retiring in 2001, he was a mechanic for Cascade Tis- sue, Suscon. He was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, and was a 4th Degree Knight, Assumpta Council, Knights of Columbus, Lu- zerne. He served six years with the Pennsylvania National Guard in Kingston with the rank of Staff Ser- geant. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Melissa; father, Michael Chabala; mother, Helen Chabala; and brother, John Chabala. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Helene Sulitka Chabala; sons, Joseph Jr., Dallas; Stephen and wife, Robyn, Lakewood, Colo. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends along with faithful companions Bai- ley and Muffin, who were always at his side. CLARK - Ronald L., of Harding Lane, Tunkhannock, died Thursday, December 16, 2010, in Mercy Tyler Hospital shortly after admission. His wife is the former Mary Lou Steele, and together they shared 51 years of marriage. He was born in Tunkhannock, on August 17, 1935, a son of the late Leo W. and Dora Ball Clark and stepson of the late Maude Corby Clark. Ro- nald was a 1953 graduate of Tunkhan- nock High School, receiving his GED while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a veteran of the Ko- rean War, and prior to his retirement he had been employed as a boiler- maker for 38 years. He was a member of Temple Lodge No. 248 F&AM Tunkhannock, The Valley of Scran- ton Consistory, Irem Temple Shrin- ers in Dallas, American Legion Post No. 154 and VFW Post 583. HEISS - Sister Mary Benedict, a member of the Mid Atlantic Commu- nity of the Sisters of Mercy, died at Mercy Center in Dallas on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. The former Mary Marcella was born August 22, 1915, in Duncans- ville, Pa., a daughter of Paul and Lena Brunner Heiss. Sister Benedict grad- uated from Hollidaysburg High School and graduated from College Misericordia with a degree in Music Education, and she received a mas- ter’s degree in music from Columbia University. Sister Benedict used her musical talents to teach as well as en- tertain at many joyful gatherings. Sis- ter Benedict entered the Sisters of Mercy on September 8, 1937, and professed her vows on March 12, 1940. Sister taught in the dioceses of Allentown, Pa.; Altoona-Johnstown, Pa.; and Brooklyn, N.Y. Surviving are her brother Frank and his wife, Rita, of Ebensburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of Mercy. MAJOR - Daniel W., 46, of Leh- man, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Hospice Care Of the VNA, Inpatient Unit, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, on May 16, 1964, and was a son of Pastor Warren E. and Dorothy White Major of Lehman. Daniel graduated from Lake-Lehman High School in 1982. Mr. Major was employed as a small- engine mechanic for Hilbert’s Trac- tor Store in Dallas for 12 years and then owned and operated Dan’s Lawn and Garden Equipment for 10 years. He was currently employed by the Huntsville Golf Course. Dan at- tended the Cross Creek Community Church in Trucksville and God’s Mis- sionary Church in Jackson Township. He enjoyed hunting and going camp- ing with his boys. He was a union brick layer foreman working for various construction companies throughout the region. Paul was a member of the George M. SIEBER - Sara (Sally), 94, of Sha- vertown, died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Me- napace, Clarks Summit. Born in 1916, in Allensville, Pa., she was a daughter of Jesse and Dorothy (Civitts) Kennedy. She earned her registered nurse degree at Women’s Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1937. She often provided volunteer medical care and delivered many ba- bies in her rural community and was later active in volunteer circles in the Back Mountain. She was active in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, both in Al- lensville and Dallas, where she for- merly taught Sunday school for dec- ades, baked for church functions and was a member of the quilters’ circle. She was active in several card clubs and sewing circles. She was a mem- ber of the former Nesbitt Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Sieber is survived by a son, Jeffrey Kennedy Sieber, and daughter-in-law, Pam Sieber, of Jacksonville, N.C.; sev- en grandchildren; 10 great-grandchil- dren; and a brother and sister-in-law, David and Jean Kennedy, of Cum- ming, Ga.; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was employed by Wyoming Valley West School Dis- trict and retired from teaching after 30 years in the district. She was an ac- tive member of St. Cecilia’s and St. Anthony’s Senior Center, Exeter, and was a member of the Retired Teach- ers Association. Surviving are her husband, Wil- liam Ziminski.
