He was born April 11, 1917, in Luzerne, and attended the Community Bible Church, Sweet Valley. He was employ- ed as a machinist at Berwick Forge. Surviving are his daughter, Lillie June Bowman, Sweet Valley; son, William R. LAMOREUX - Michael P., 70, of Village Drive, Hunlock Creek, died November 21, 2010, in the Wilkes-Barre Gen- eral Hospital. He was born July 15, 1940, in Nanticoke, and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Lake Silkworth. He served in the U.S. Army. For 38 years, he was employed as a parts manager for Sears Ser- vice. NICHOLS - Wayne Charles, 48, of Trucksville, died Friday, November 26, 2010, in Wilkes- Barre General Hospital after a brief battle with throat cancer. He was born in Wilkes- Barre, on June 28, 1962, and was a graduate of Hanover Ar- ea High School, class of 1980. He was formerly employed at Carter Footwear for several years. He was a life member and past officer of Goodwill Volunteer Hose Co., West Pitt- ston. Surviving are his father, Wayne I. Nicholas, Rome; his wife, the former Nancyanne Salerno; sons, Richard Dun- stan, Trucksville; and Calvin Dunstan, Pittston; one grand- son; brother, Thomas Nichols; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. SCRANTA - Theodore C., 54, of Dymonds Trailer Park, Eaton Township, died Tues- day, November 23, 2010, at home. He was born August 25, 1956, in Long Island, N.Y., he was a US. Army veteran, a graduate of Tunkhannock Ar- ea High School and was em- ployed as a laborer for various industries in the Tunkhannock area. Surviving are his mother, Geraldine Kingston Scranta, Tunkhannock; two sons, Theo- dore C. Jr., of West Virginia; and Clifford, of Mehoopany; a daughter, Lisa Timms, of West Milford, W.Va.; and four grand- children. SHARTLE - Ernest J., of Grandview Drive, Tunkhan- nock, died at his home on Fri- day, November 26, 2010. He was born in Lebanon, Pa., on November 15, 1943, was a graduate of Lebanon High School, class of 1962, and Mansfield State Teachers”Col- lege, class of 1967. Prior to his retirement, he taught for two years in the Ne- wark Valley School District in New York and for seven years in the Towanda Area School District where he served as recreation director and swim coach. He retired after 25 years of teaching from the Tunkhannock Area School District, where he served as swim coach for a number of years. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. He was very ac- tive in the American Red Cross Chapter in Wyoming County. Surviving are his wife, Rose M. Johnson Shartle; sons, Rick Hiduk, of Marretta; Todd, of Akron, Ohio; and Eric, of Pitts- burgh; daughter, Lisa Ruszin, of Pittston; brother, Lester, of Myerstown; sisters, Pauline Sattazahn, of Lebanon; Verna Ebright, of Myerstown; and Lula Weik, of Lebanon; four grandchildren; nieces and ne- phews. THOMAS - Sister Mary Aloysius, RSM, of the Mid-At- lantic Community of the Sis- ters of Mercy, died on Friday, November 26, 2010, at Mercy Center Nursing Unit, Dallas. The former Sara Thomas, she was born in Pottsville on January 22, 1923, and was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Misericordia University and an MS in Business Educa- tion from Columbia Universi- ty. Sister also studied at Font- bonne College in St. Louis, Mo. She entered the Sisters of Mercy at Dallas on September 8, 1944, and professed her vows on March 12, 1947. She taught secondary education in the dioceses of Harrisburg and Scranton. Sister Aloysius joined the staff at Mercy Center, served in the dietary department, and continued her ministry devot- ed to special projects for St. Jo- seph’s Hospital, Guyana. Sur- viving are sisters, Anne Call- ahan, of Pottsville; Louise Koury, of St. Paul, Minn.; and Ruth Spece, of Pottsville; a brother, John, of Pottsville; nieces and nephews. She will re- turn the money to the state Trea- sury each month. “With so many families strug- gling in this still difficult econo- my, I feel it is only right to return this raise,” Baker said.
