John Murray becomes Eagle Scout John Murray, of Boy Scout Troop 281, recently complet- ed his Eagle Scout Leader- ship Service Project by orga- nizing and directing the clean up and painting of 34 fire hy- drants in Dallas Borough. The fire hydrants were dis- colored, rusting and not eas- ily located. Murray’s project included cleaning the area around the fire hydrants, re- furbishing and painting them bright red. He directed 30 volunteers for- 249 hours of community service to complete the pro- ject, receiving donations and approval from United Water Company and Dallas Fire & Ambulance Company to carry out the project. The project resulted in pro- viding better access and vis- ibility for the fire company to the hydrants and in helping to beautify the Dallas com- munity by adding a sense of pride to the Back Mountain area. “This project is not only a major improvement and as- sistance to the Dallas Fire De- partment but also to the com- munity we serve,” said Harry Vivian, Dallas Fire Chief.
