Aidan will attend kindergarten at Lake-Noxen Elementary in the fall. His parents are Melinda and Michael Gaus, of Harveys Lake. Summer reading programs continuing ummer reading is in full swing at the Back Mountain Memorial Library and participants of “Make a Splash! Read!” and “Make Waves!” are reminded they have until August 18 to complete their eight books and collect their grand prize and certificate. The final party will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, on the library grounds. Chil- dren and teens will be treated to the musical “Pinocchio” by members of Take the Stage studio while enjoying refreshments and snacks. Families are asked to call the library to register for the final festivities. Throughout the summer, the children and teens enjoyed numerous special programs and crafts. CHARLOTTE BARTIZEK PHOTOS/ FOR THE DALLAS POST Run for the Fallen’ set for Aug. 18 “Run for the Fallen” will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus. Registration begins at 5 p.m. with the race set to start at 6:30 p.m. The event will be a 5K run/ walk in honor of fallen soldiers who have lost their lives in Oper- ation Iraqi Freedom. In addition, the event will remember Michael J. Cleary, a Back Mountain sol- dier who lost his life in military action. Registration is $12 per partici- pant and $50 for teams of five. Registration forms are available at www.neparunner.com or may be completed at the event. The first 50 registered runners will re- ceive a t-shirt. All proceeds will benefit the First Lieutenant Michael J. Clea- ry Memorial Fund. Sarah Pomfret, Michael Wright, Jonathan Weaver, Dan Morgan, Alex Zubko, Jess Adams, Carly Manganello and Chelsea Martin, who will all en- ter their junior year at Dallas High School in August, are coor- dinating the event as their senior completion project. Red Cross schedules three The American Red Cross will conduct three blood drives in the Back Mountain during the month of August. The first drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, at the Fellowship Evan- gelical Free Church, 45 Hilde- brandt Rd., Dallas. A drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the Meadows Nursing Center, 55 Center Hill Rd., Dallas. The last drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Tues- day, Aug. 24, at the Dallas American Legion, 730 Memo- rial Hwy., Dallas. The Double blood drives Red Unit is scheduled to be at this drive. The Red Cross requests that all donors bring identification and their Red Cross blood card. First-time donors will receive a card after their first donation.
