NBLT plans river trip The 10th Annual North Branch Land Trust River Trip on the north branch of the Susquehanna River will be held on Saturday, July 31. This year’s trip is to White’s Ferry. Endless Mountain Out- fitters will run a morning shuttle leaving at 9:15 a.m. from White’s Ferry, just north of Keelersburg, to the Howland Preserve. A brief talk of the Howland Preserve is scheduled for 10 a.m., with the river launch at 10:30 a.m. After the trip, there will be an afternoon shuttle back to Howland Preserve. OBITUARIES ARLEDGE - Martin L. Jr., 83, of Overbrook Road, Dallas and formerly of Forty Fort, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Geis- inger Wyoming Valley Medical ‘Center, Plains Township. Born on April 29, 1927 in Forty Fort, he was a graduate of the for- mer Forty Fort High School, class of 1945. He furthered his education at Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a journeyman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1319, Wilkes-Barre. A U.S. Navy veter- an, he served during World War II and attained the rank of Seaman First Class upon his honorable discharge on August 23, 1946. He was a member of Gate of Heaven Roman Catholic Church, Dallas; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Anthracite Post 283, King- ston; and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Irene Stachnik, with whom he celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary on June 5, 2010; his son.
