He served on the council for Luzerne Borough and was also a past president of the former Lu- zerne Lions Club. She was active in the Back Mountain Collectors Club, the Polish-American Singers, the Choral Society Singers of Miser- icordia and was a member of the Noxen Baptist Bible Church. He was a member of the former St. Mary’s Nativity Church, Ply- mouth, where he was involved with the choir, the Ushers Club and the Holy Name Society. LEGION CITES WINNER OF ESSAY CONTEST Daddow-Isaacs Dallas American Legion Post 672 recently honored Brandon Harding as the winner of its annual essay con- test. The contest’s theme was, “Is the stimulus package worth- while?" Harding received a $300 savings bond, a certificate and a gold medal. Senior Vice Commander of District 12 John Emil, Jr. congratulated Harding, who also won the District 12 essay contest. Harding will be honored at the next district meeting and will be presented with more scholarship money. Harding is a ju- nior at Dallas High School. He is the son of Brian and Dawn Hard- ing, Dallas. Curbside yard collection begins The Dallas Borough Road Department will begin weekly curbside yard waste collection beginning the week of May 10. The weekly collection sched- ule will begin following the conclusion of the Dallas Bor- ough annual spring cleanup scheduled for the week of May 3-8. Borough officials ask that residents not place their green yard waste recycling contain- ers curbside prior to the begin- ning of the collection season. As in previous years, the bor- ough road department will col- lect the equivalent of two 25- gallon green recycling contain- ers on Monday and Tuesday www.masonicvillagespa.org = weekly throughout the season. Yard waste volumes exceeding the two 25-gallon contaij limit will not be collected. @” Property owners are asked to drop off additional yard waste at the Jackson Township mu- nicipal site or make arrange- ments with a private hauler for the removal of large volumes of yard waste.
