Morning hours will be from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and after- ~ noon hours are from1to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The following schedule will be followed according to the first letter of the student’s last name: A and B - Tuesday morning, March 9 C, D and E - Tuesday after- noon, March 9 F, G and H - Wednesday morn- ing, March 10 I, J,K, L and M - Wednesday af- ternoon, March 10 N, O, P, Q and R - Thursday morning, March 11 S and T - Thursday afternoon, March 11 UV, WX, Y and Z - Friday morning, March 12 The children who will enter first grade but did not attend the Dallas kindergarten program this past term and any second through fifth-grade students may register on Friday afternoon, March 12. A child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2010 to make him/her eligible for Dallas School District schedules registration for first-time students kindergarten. A birth certificate, passport or baptismal certificate will be accepted as proof of age. Parent/guardian photo is re- quired when registering a stu- dent. Parents must also provide two proofs of parent/guardian residency. In addition to the registration, vision, speech and kindergarten readiness screenings will be giv- en. After logging on to the Web site, click on the “registration” link on the left hand side and then click on “2010-2011 kindergarten registration infor- mation.” The Lake-Lehman School District announces kindergar- ten registration and screening for eligible kindergarten stu- dents on February 22, 23 and 24. The school district policy states that a child must be 5 years of age before September 1, 2010 and fully immunized in accordance with the latest reg- ulations of the Pennsylvania Department of Health in order toregister for kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year. Kin- dergarten in the Lake-Lehman School District is an all-day pro- gram. Parents or guardians must ac- company the student during the registration process and present a birth certificate, two proofs of residency (driver's license and utility bill with an address on it) and immunization record for the child. Immunizations required are the three doses of hepatitis B, three doses of polio, four doses of DTP (fourth dose after the fourth birthday), two doses of MMR Kindergarten registration at Lake-Lehman and two doses of varicella vaccine or history of disease. Registration at Lehman-Jack- son Elementary, 675-2165, will be on Monday, Feb. 22; at Lake-Nox- en Elementary, 639-1129, on Tuesday, Feb. 23; and at Ross Ele- mentary, 477-5050, on Wednes- day, Feb. 24. The time schedule will be the same at each elementary follow- ing alphabetical order of the last name: A-E: 9 am., FJ: 10 am; K-O: 11 am.; P-S: 1 p.m.; and T-Z: 2 p.m. Milestones Achievement Centers (MAC) and Mile- stones Community Health- care have changed their name to New Story. Coinciding with its name change, the organization is launching the “New Story Fund,” which will grant up to DMS students cited at awards assembly Dallas Middle School held. its first quarter awards assembly earlier this year. The program, established to celebrate the achievements of students and staff, acknowl- edged those students achieving honor roll status as well as stu- dent athletes who competed in fall sports. Students who earned Honors with Distinction earned a grade point average of 98 or higher. Students who led their grade level in the Accelerated Reader Program received certificates of achievement. Accelerated Reader encourag- es students to read independ- ently and to develop a love for reading. Students earn points by demonstrating comprehen- sion on completed books and point leaders are recognized quarterly. Student athletes were also recognized at the program. $50,000 each year to help fam- ilies living in Pennsylvania pay for goods and services they need to care for their children with spe- cial needs when other financial support is not readily available. Nominations for the “New Sto- ry Fund” are now open and will run through March 30, 2010. New Story Fund’ set up for children with special needs Grants up to $25,000 will be giv- en out twice a year to those se- lected within the designated nomination period and who meet the criteria.
