Born in Kingston, he was a graduate of Forty Fort High School and attended the Univer- sity of Miami prior to joining the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. As president of Carbon Sales Inc. and Treasurer of Unifilt Cor- poration, he was involved in the anthracite coal and water filtra- tion industries for over 35 years. He served as a former member of the board of directors of St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen, former board member of Planned Par- enthood of Northeast Pennsylva- nia, a member of the George M. Dallas Masonic Lodge, Loyal Or- der of Jesters, Irem Temple and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer: Marguerite Carrigg; sons, Matthew, Dallas; and Brian, Jack- sonville, Fla.; daughter, Leslie Anne, New York City, N.Y.; three grandchildren; sister, Helen Ann Vasconcellos, Honolulu, Hawaii; and stepmother, Jeanne Dewees, Dallas. Born on September 6, 1943, she was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School, Forty Fort, Class of 1960. She re- ceived her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Barnard College, New York City, N.Y., Ari- zona State University, Tempe, Ariz., and Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre. She began a teaching career in 1964 at the Harrisburg Academy and then taught at the Wyoming Seminary Upper School. Her teaching career concluded in 2004 as a professor of mathemat- ics at the Pennsylvania State Uni- versity, Wilkes-Barre Campus. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Paul R. Mahler; sons, Paul Jr, Mountain Top; Eric, Nuangola; and Nicholas, York; and four grandchildren.
